Connor Taylor (17) of Summerset High won first prize in a local eating contest hosted by the school. Devouring well over 10’000 calories worth of burgers, cakes and pies Taylor greedily took the victory. None of the other competitors even came close with second place only managing just under 2000 calories.

Sporting his shiny gold medal and increased waistline the school boy couldn’t look happier. Which begs the question; how ethical is it to allow high school children to participate in competitive eating?

We ask our health corespondent Dr. Lara Atwood:

’Competitive eating should not pose a health risk to children with a healthy lifestyle through diet and exercise. However, Connor is clearly a big lad and for him to effortlessly consume the same amount of calories that could feed four grown men for a day in one sitting does worry me. Through his ill fitting clothes it is easy to see he is carrying a lot of excess fat particularly in his cheeks, chest and stomach, especially for some one at such a young age. This I can only assume must be due to the teen's poor diet and lifestyle and not from binging at an eating contest. In conclusion, I would strongly advise anyone as fat as Connor not to participate in competitive eating as his body could do without those extra calories on top of his already unhealthy lifestyle.'

We asked Connor for a comment:

’What the hell? Sounds to me like health and safety are trying to ruin something fun like always. Besides I’m not that fat, I'm good looking guy so I’m not worried. Can’t we talk about my victory instead?’

On that note we would like to congratulate Connor on becoming Summerset High's Champion Eater. For his efforts the teen won himself unlimited all-you-can-eat for a year courtesy of Big Willy's BBQ Grill. (We hope they know what they are getting themselves in to.)
