I really like this but I had hard time telling where his other hand was until I looked at your prelim sketches on tumblr. It was then that I realized that he was holding the helmet. I agree maybe a little too colorful. Maybe if u darkened up his face it would be easier to tell. I really do love this piece though. It caught my eye right away when I was looking at my notifications this morning. It has a very tolkien style to it. If I were a hobbit I would sure be scared of this imposing figure.

HOLY SHIT he was holding his helmet?! wow i could not tell, i like the blend of both worlds, as it reminds me a bit of his bishie-fication on some DA's and places *cough Tumblr cough* while maintaining that sinister aura. great work

I always imagined him more....abstract/no much od human form, but this one was commission so I made some compromis between my version and some standart human Sauron

I'm not sure...to be true I prefer drawing elves more than valar because in my imagination they are really abstract beings
but I have some old picture of them...like here

I love your take on this character, I'm a huge fan of Tolkein. I love how you used a mixed pallet of warm colours instead of just using the traditional shades of blacks and greys. You really brought him to life, I just wish you could've done an epic background for this awesome character.

I don't want to repeat myself, but...omg he's moving!
Out of joke, the pose makes him so majestic and strong-willed! That eye chills me, he looks so sure of himself!
I really like the patterns of his dress, not to mention its colors which are wisely picked! *^* I almost feel I could touch it if I stretched my hand to the screen!
One thing I do love in art is details. And this piece (and your art in general) offers so many of them! They give a reason to watchers to figure out every single part of the piece! Like...his legs! I didn't realize he had his legs/boots shown for they looked some different pattern of his cloth. This is no bad at all, don't misunderstand me!
I don't think it's too much colorful. I really like the piece this way! Flames are shiny after all (I hope I'm not getting anything wrong, I admit I don't know much about Tolkien's books ç_ç don't hate me ç__ç)

Was there any conscious influence from Klimt here?
I've never been wholly comfortable picturing Sauron and the other Maia/Valar as having any definite form, but this may be my favorite stab at Sauron that I've ever seen.

I think a lot of artists are my inspiration and I quite like Klimt works, so maybe yes

So much great things going on this drawing that I just don't know where to start. First of all, great choice of colors; not only the make each design stand out on their own, but they compliment each other in this amazing sorceress/warrior. Great job and keep up the good work

Lovely colors, great use of space in the framing of the body and the smoke details, and I like how the image of the Eye is peppered throughout the costume.

Wow, what a beautiful image of such an awful and powerful character.
The fire echo of the expression of power behind the mailed figure really emphasizes all reaching extent of it.
Yet you manage to portray the malice he holds in the expression in the eyes...
