We loved BOFA too; I can't wait to get the extended cut on DVD!! Yes, he is stunning in the snow. I really, really love the way you did the snow in this, it's truly dimensional. Great hair (as always, and boy does he have ROCKING HAIR OMG), and I love the shine on the armor. Awesome. *hugs the picture and drools a bit*Β

I don't think anyone can deny the attention to detail on this piece is anything short of amazing. Its a great rendition. The chrome of the armor is definitely the highlight of the piece, but you also captured Lee Pace's likeness very well, even those blasted eyebrows. And good work keeping the hair light but detailed enough to give it the necessary weight. The background is really well blended & smooth, too which helps him pop out in the foreground (but you already knew this. ) The only spot that loses me a little bit is the under-armor on his arm. I'm not saying it's bad, I even checked the source image & there's not a whole of clear definition, it just feels a little unsure compared to everything else. Another fine job my friend.

Did you like the movie?

Oh, Kevin, thank you so, so much! I missed reading your comments. They always make me feel better. You're completely right, I didn't know what to do with the under-armor clothing.. I hope it doesn't ruin the picture, though Β

As for the movie - I LOOOOVED IT! Have you seen it?

TheHouseOfVin In reply to Fantaasiatoidab [2015-01-10 03:44:30 +0000 UTC]

Well, I had definitely taken WAY too long to comment on your work. I will try to be more prompt.

I enjoyed Battle of Five Armies. I had issues with some things, but over all I enjoyed it. It made me like Legolas less, just because everything he does is fantastically awesome & on such a grand scale. The one part that pushed it over the edge for me was when he steered the best into knocking the tower over perfectly into the chasm and it was just exactly the right size to fit in there. I dunno, he did tons of awesome things in LotR but it seemed reasonable in those movies. I absolutely HATED the unibrow guy from Lake-town and thought he served no purpose to the story. Wanted him TO DIE...

BUT, I loved the romance between Tauriel & Kili. Could have watched a whole movie about that. I thought for sure Tauriel would die. Actually would have preferred it, since she is never mentioned again. And if she had died due to Dwarves it would have made Legolas' loathing of them in LotR all the more relatable. But not necessary for her character arc, so its okay. I LOVED Smaug and Bard's faceoff in the beginning, but since it was over so soon, I thought it should have been put on the end of the previous movie. There was a TON of CGI and I know thats nothing new but it seemed like too much for me. I think the Scottish dwarf was totally computer for some reason and it baffles me. Martin Freeman was by far my favorite part of the movie. I'd watch 3 more 3 hour movies with him as Bilbo in a heartbeat. I really like the Galadriel scene where she banished Sauron, that was cool. I could go on & on I suppose, so I will leave it at that.

I may do another Tauriel piece from Five Armies before too long, so stay tuned...

(Oh, and thanx for replying back today. I've been having a couple rough days and it was good to hear from a friend, even its just art talk. )

Yeah, I had some issues as well but overall I was totally blown away. I will re-watch it tomorrow. The first IMAX cinema was opened in Estonia and I just have to see Hobbit in IMAX!!! I've heard amazing stories about it. You know, you and I are like the only ones who like Tauriel&Kili romance. I was so sure that she'll die, I was prepared for that. Oh well, what did shock me was the way Fili died. I was so shocked... I just.. I did not see that coming. And the way he fell in front of Kili... Oh wow, my feelings. Smaug and Bard's faceoff was absolutely awesome! Perfect way to start a movie - I was covered with goosebumps You know, CGI didn't bother me this time. I hated it in Desolation of Smaug but this time I was so into the movie that I didn't notice it. Perhaps it will bother me the second time I watch it. I agree, Galadriel was badass. Absolutely loved it! And Martin as Bilbo - he was meant to be Bilbo. I was quite nervous at first when they announced that he will play Bilbo because I didn't really imagine him being a hobbit. But he's just bloody perfect!

I hope you're doing better. I've read your post on Facebook and I'm really sorry for your loss

Ha, we probably are the only people that like Kiliel... er... Taurili... ah well. (Actually if you search 'kili & tauriel' on here, there's MANY of us out there haha) You know, I'd actually kinda forgotten most of 'The Unexpected Journey' by the time I was 'Five Armies', then I listened to the soundtrack and that haunting 'Misty Mountains' song the Dwarves sing - I think that's my favorite thing from the Hobbit movies. Its very cool. I think Richard Armitage did a great job as Thorin. Yeah, that was pretty sudden how Fili died, after bunches of people being saved throughout the trilogy at the last minute when death was looming, it was pretty shocking.

Did you watch it again? Any different views now?

Thanks, I am doing better now. Still not in the best place, but I'm better. Thanx for the cyber hug.
