Aha I don't think I'm really that great at drawing spiky hair either, but I find that it helps to start by drawing their bangs, and where their hair parts..? I'm sorry I can't give any better advice (￣▽￣) I'm flattered that you asked me for tips though~
I'm sure there are great hair tutorials if you look around for them~

This is a wonderful piece by the way!! I don't think Pikachu looks weird here; I think there is actually a version/style of them that looks like that? My sister has a pack of Pikachu cards from around the world, or something like that, and I recall seeing one that looked similar to the one you created here. So no worries, me thinks!
