So... this one was kind of an art experiment which ended up creating a new animal species. I've had the craving to do another mountain scene for a while and to do a scene showing 'ordinary life' on Rimer. It's common behaviour of most larger animal species to seek high places from which territory can be viewed. Whether an animal walks on two legs or four, the reasons for doing this are exactly the same: seeking visual (or other sensory) knowledge of predators, rivals, prey, kin/allies, weather patterns from afar. Also, checking out the view! (And in the cases of animals being pursued, height may be a source of safety and is thus advantageous. It's a position particularly desired in war and I have read of leopards who have outfoxed their monkey prey with this tactic by getting above the monkey's retreat, cutting it off and confusing them, usually leading to a leopard victory.)

The experiment was digitally colouring a fully traditionally inked image that included character and background that had been inked together.

I probably could have taken this one a lot further but (blah, excuses) heat and lack of motivation have led to me not wanting to take this very much further if further at all. So here it is. It's done.

I think the animal's called a tunvar. Not sure. Kind of a doggish snow leopard with a lion mane and ermine colours. They're solitary ambush predators from Subfamily Letescolupidae so they're relations of pepper wolves, glacier wolves and plains wolves. Tunvars are just being conceptualized here but they are endemic to the Rimarian continent of Thundarica.

And check out this absolutely gorgeous new piece of Rimarian concept art by the lovely ~Wrennars !
