Description
In life, you are a pillar of strength, whose bark gives home and solace
In death you are mother of many, and your heart is a seed of the forest itself.
As the years make frail your bones, and seasons shift like the tides,
Drenching you in rain and golden sun alike,
You give all of yourself to your home until you yourself become it.
How much will you give? How much will you lose?
What remains?
Hello all! This esk in some capacity has been living in my head for a few years and I'm pleased to offer it to you all on auction! The initial idea I had was a spirit continuously giving themselves to the forest, through the seasons changing shape, and perhaps personality, leaning on their enchantments and spreading their consciousness outwards when the weight grew too heavy, frolicking under the emptiness of winter, or despite the vibrant growth of summer. Just as I have found that some seasons bring me more happiness, and some, sorrow, I wanted to offer an esk to become a vessel for your own personal growth and changes.
Nurse logs create abundant life, even in their death, and so too do we find new life in the death of old dreams, the end of the road.
The mycelium head is yours to interpret as you will. Compassion fatigue? Seasonal depression? An insidious force working to consume the main body and surrounding forest? Doubt? How will it play in? It's up to you.
It didn't start as quite a bonanza of nature features but as I started to work on it, I realized- why not go all out? Why not swing for the fences and create something over the top for the community that has sheltered me and the land that has held me? I'm moving to a place drastically new and wildly different to me in the fall, so this was also somewhat of a farewell to the home I have known most of my life. Note- making a high nature feature esk is a great way to become REAL familiar with what's around you. I now see these plants like old friends everywhere I go.
Now who in their right mind would draw this esk in full again? I don't know. (I know there's some incredible brave folks here who might see this as a challenge). It's a record breaker, at least for now, at 60 nature features. I know its a lot, so I added a few features to them to make life a little easier. All esks can hide any of their nature features (abnormals only have to keep one at a time), and this one has a moveable nature feature mutation! None of them have to be in the same place! And every single one of them could explode into ravaging growth and cover the esk and their surroundings if you find you have a favorite.
