Description
After a discussion I had with some friends about Gwen's new look, I decided to draw her Omniverse look, but in Ultimate Alien style.
What I don't like the most of the new look is those glasses (that's why I didn't draw her wearing them). I mean, look at them. Have you ever seen a 16-year-old girl wearing such glasses? XP I personally prefer the first Omniverse version. She was gorgeous!
But that's just me! FYI: There is not a background story about that pic. It's just random!

I heard a rumor once they made her look worse to try to kill the BenXGwen ships. I don't believe it, but at the same time that series retconed so hard you could get whiplash so who knows.

I'v never heard of this rumor before! I thought that they wanted to make her a nerd based on stereotypes. Same with Kevin being an emo-punk and Zs'skayr having the Grim Reaper's scythe. XD

I completely agree with you about Gwen's redesign, however, she still looks beautiful when you draw her.

I agree with everything you said. Why did they have to murder her looks? OV2 is horrible, OV1 - melts at beauty. But why the art style change???

Never thought of it that way.
But, now that I think about it, Ben kinda looks like Shaggy and Wildmutt's collar makes him look a bit like Scooby.
Although, Kevin was reverted to his look - only larger.

If you recall in "Ben10,000", when Ben and Gwen were sent into the future, Gwen met her future self. Aside from obvious aging developments and a slight wardrobe change, not much had changed between them - I think that was to prevent young Gwen from asking to many questions about the future. (Or, at least, getting to many answers - as the case may have been.)
In the latest time warp when when Eon accidentally switched the Bens' minds, teen Gwen saw her younger self through - I guess you'd call it a time window. There Aside from teen Gwen having developed, wearing a skirt and glasses - again - not much had changed between them. I think this was - again - to prevent young Gwen from asking to many questions. Only this time - the lack of Q&A was to keep her mind on the mission.
That's my theory, anyway.
But if that were the case, I just prefer they left the second time-warp episode out. Since time was reset afterward and no one remembered what happened - it's as if the episode never existed anyway.

I'm with you entirely. I loved her first Omniverse look!! And her second look definitely looks much better without the (as I like to call them) old-woman glasses! I mean, come on, all they're missing is the around-the-neck cord-thing, am I right?
