Description Challenge:"Your first challenge is to create a cohesive collection of looks for a woman during the holiday season. I do not care how many looks you create, as long as you have your "spin" on the following classic pieces:
Blouse, Sweater/cardigan, Skirt, Pair of pants, Coat, Cocktail Dress, Gown
-----------------------------
GAH. I feel so bad for getting this up so late and everything, so I will try SUPER hard to make this brief-ish.

I was sketching this over break, void of any original inspiration, so I got the idea in my head to design outfits specifically for me and my lackluster holiday season [lackluster here meaning a good thing. ]. So some of the pieces are loosely based on outfits I do wear [just with my own designer-spin], and the rest based on other concepts I'm working on [that'll show up in a fall collection, if I ever get around to coloring them all in...because it's like flippin' awesome, fer seriously.].Also, I wanted only a handful of pieces to mixnmatch, that sorta thing, yaknow?
Well, anyway, the end result came out a lot drabber than I first envision, but I kind of like it anyway.
Let me know how you feel about all these scritchy scratchy pen shadings...it's sort of a new style that I'm playing around with. But I am so drawing the models larger next time.

Look 1-'The Hangin' around home and occasionally going out for coffee and walks look'::This includes the blouse, the skirt, the sweater and a cardigan. Cardigan is wool blend thing, with ribbed knit detailing. Skirt is tiered layers of different pattern fabrics [not sure what kind...]. + a fuzzy trapper hat with plaid lining and grey tights.

2-'The Pre-Christmas Sociallizing and Shopping look'::Includes the pants, with are purple-grey cords, and the blouse alone. Blouse is silk from the breast down, and a super sheer fabric [can someone please enlighten me of what would be used for this?] for the collar, sleeves, and neck tie/bow thing, w// black satin trim at edge of sleeves. [it's all one connected piece, btw...]] Slouchy knit beannie, patent snadels.

3-'The Christmas Eve Fish Feast look'::Features the coat-a big faux fur montrosity, worn over the sweater-burgandy and grey stripped cotten blend, long sleeve-, which is worn over the blouse again. Includes kelt bowler hat with sating bow trim, black tights.

4-'The Dress I would wear if I had a christmas cocktail party to go to look':: Cocktail dress once again has that sheer fabric around the collar...scoop neck, black satin trimming the sleeves. Actual dress part is velvet, buttons alrong the middle, ties at the bust. Black tights, white booties, bow headband, and the coat draped over.
I included another sketch of the cocktail dress because I thought it might be useful to get a better idea of what's going on with it.

5-'The Gown I would wear to some awesome New Years ball, if only such a thing had occured look'::Another sheer collar/sleeve deal, attacked at the neckline is a bow-shaped brotch, inlayed with teensy pearls or something of that nature. The bust part is velvet, and the rest is grey-pink chiffon-also buttons down the middle, slits open and drapes over the feet...black patent sandels, bow headband.

That was so not brief. xD . I'm definately liking it more now that it's colored, but it's not my most innovative [I don't think] and I'm sortakindareally nervous. =/

i love this!! i fav this!!

the wonderful thing is that it is a small and thight collection - it is very consistent, yet each piece is interesting on its own. you manage to reuse key elements to tie the whole thing together, but none of it is boring. This is an ultimate capsule collection - you can wear them in different variations to create new looks. And this is one of the reasons i love it!!

Another reason is that it has this understated cool that I love about you. it is really not in your face, yet full of statement and individuality.

don't have a favorite looks, as they are all so good together.

Ahh, thank you so much!
I was worried about it looking too messy, but I s'ose it came out a little lighter on the scanner-which works fine for me, especially if you're liking it.
Jenny Lewis...I might've heard of her. Maybe I'm think of Juliette Lewis or something like that. But those aren't the same people, I'm guessing...well, I'll have to look her up.

Ooh, okay. I think I have heard of that, but then again I don't listen to much country...I did look her up though and totally see the resemblance.
I'll try not to. The contests are still slightly nerve racking every time.

I really like your designs, they have a really nice feel about them. I enjoy your colour scheme, it suits throughout the whole collection.

Do you use a pre-made fashion model sketch, or just make one up as you go?

Thank you very much!
I draw my own model, but this is sort of how they all tend to look.

Cool. I'm an aspiring designer myself, I draw my own models, which in themselves are a parody of the fashion industry.

Ha. I just don't like using the pre-made ones. Doesn't feel like my work, you know?
