Description My summer work. I'm rather proud of it, cause I did it not using either compass or protractor (though unwillingly - I had none at hand

Wow, all this without a compass?!

externa In reply to foreignmind [2008-01-19 09:29:14 +0000 UTC]

Actually, I think it would be even more dificult to draw such thing entirely with it))

Perhaps, but what about making sure the entire thing isn't lopsided?

Thank you! And for the fav too)
Hm, I have never seen Bryan Talbot's works before) Actually, it would be more difficult to draw an ornament following all the rules of technical drawing i.e. using instruments on all the stages... I usually use them only on the 'marking' stage

augh! it's freehand?! impressive And I still really love your style of making gradients with points... it reminds me a lot of the work of Bryan Talbot

externa In reply to Marcusstratus [2007-09-15 18:05:05 +0000 UTC]

I don't remember exactly... I think a day of pencil work and a couple of from-time-to-time pen work.

Marcusstratus In reply to externa [2007-09-15 22:32:45 +0000 UTC]

that's it? or do you mean like 24 hrs of pencil work and like 48 hrs. of pen?

externa In reply to Marcusstratus [2007-09-16 09:56:10 +0000 UTC]

Oh no, I'm not capable of sitting entire 24 or 48 hours at work)) Cooking, eating, sleeping etc. are not ecluded.

Marcusstratus In reply to externa [2007-09-16 22:31:26 +0000 UTC]

haha, well, I thought you meant like 6 hours one day, 4 another 6 another, until all the hours equal 24 together.

But I see what you mean now

Very impressive, it is well balanced and even, it is hard to be so regular by hand! Plus it is visually very attractive, with good contrast and variations of textures. A masterwork!

More like admiring and using as a practice reference, but whatever makes you comfortable.

Hm... Perhaps I used a wrong word. But the aim is achieved - I thanked you )
It makes me comfortable when something I do is applied some way or other - that means it's not in vain
