I'll put this in scraps later, I'm just super proud of how the line work turned out for this piece, sorry the scanner clipped one side a bit
Kitsunes in Japanese folklore are deeply connected with magic and the Shinto kami Inari. They were said to be able to take on human form and were often found out when their brush tail(s) were exposed. A kitsune gained tails with age and wisdom, they could have up to nine.
My kitsune has four, symobolizing middle age and purposefully placed the sun and moon on either side of her to give the piece a feeling of balance.

*Starbursting is a term that refers to pressing too hard on the needle, which means it goes below the 7th layer of skin mark and makes the ink just sort of explode like a giant ugly ink blot that is unfixable.
