Description Another wonderful creative doll idea from ! This is an African caracal fallow deer hybrid as well as one of my largest dolls ever! He stands as tall as an adult domestic cat, and boasts a full rack of prong by prong accurate buck fallow deer horns. Since his head is so heavy he ended up with 8 coiled 16 gauge galvanized steel wires in the neck and spine to support his massive head, much like a real buck bulks up during rutting season. They ended up being very hard to see on the pelt, but there are white fur spots sewn in a neat punch out pattern as well as the white stripe down the spine and the distinctive black markings over the white rump all markings of the fallow deer. I know there are a few turtorials out there using other materials but I make my whiskers from nylon bead string, it it fine to be left in place in the clay and baked along with it, though I do suggest adding a dab of glue to each whisker entrance after baking is complete just to keep them in place. The nylon also paints over quite well. Hope you all enjoy!

Thank you so much! She came up with the mix, i did suggest fallow deer though, they are so pretty with all their fawnish spots all year round ^_^ They turned out to be a bit hard to see in the tan caracal coat though LOL

I just made the most insanely high-pitched noise! I was sick over the weekend so I didn't check my email until a few minutes ago after I saw this post. I absolutely love him! He's gorgeous and the antler rack is PHENOMENAL! I'm so excited to see him in person! Sorry for the over-use of exclamation points, I'm just really freaking happy right now.

I'm glad you like him!!! The only big thing i notice is his posing is stiff, that is because of the number of wires I coiled together to support the head's weight, he DOES pose though so don't worry! lol My cats kept approaching him like he was a real cat is was so freaking adorable

Thank you! The antlers were a really fun challenge, I made them all of sculpey firm and used a TON of gorilla glue to secure them down to the head since I baked them on in phases, I think they turned out really well though heavier than I expected!

It's pretty cool that you were able to keep the head up. Id I made it it would be falling over!

I did add more wire after it was baked and I realized how heavy it was, normally my dolls have 4ish wrapped 16 gauge steel wire, this one has 8 through the neck, shoulders, and spine, just like how a real buck bulks up before mating season lol ^_^

That's a lot of time! Are there ever nights when you don't sleep?

They used to happen frequently but not since my son was born 18 months ago lol! I can't deal with the day without good sleep now, I'm old I guess ^_^;

lol. My dad's an oil painter, and my mom is forever serving his needs. Making him eat and go to bed. You go in a trance I guess.

The creature looks amazing! i love the antlers and her cute face, tho one of her eyes looks pushed in to far compared to the other (i know from experience its very hard to sync the eyes in a sculpture i end up gushing them out a couple of times before it looks right most of the time XD) but other then that she/he looks lovely

Thank you! ^_^ Yeah that side the antler ended up being slightly farther back as well though it worked out for how they arc back nicely (it looks like a praying interlocked hand at the end lol)
