This is very complex, it must have taken quite a long time to create.
Did you use a model or picture reference? Or is he straight from your imagination?

I don't really time my drawing sessions... Marker pieces like this tend to take 5 or 6 hours to get through, on average, but it usually depends on how easily the pose and costuming come. Sometime I struggle to find something that works while other times I get it right the first time. As I recall, this one went pretty quickly. I used a few references for this one, but the general pose, anatomy and final costuming is all mine. The client provided character reference which dictated things like his general facial appearance and hairstyle, as well as his sword, and I took clothing inspiration from several books of medieval costuming I have in my reference library. Otherwise, it's all from my imagination.

How many colours are actually in this? The subtle colouration is super nice, I'm really enjoying it in combination with all the highlights and fabric folds, it's like he's made out of soft metals.

None. It's a combination of cool, neutral, and warm grays. And black and white, of course. All on a warm gray toned paper. Cool gray has a blue tint to it and warm gray is more brown. That's what creates the tonal differences.
