I use adobe photoshop CS6, and I start with the pen tool and go around the whole image then fill it with black. Then use the pen tool on a new layer to create lines to fill the colors. then another one for the shadows. 
It's not very hard, but it takes along time... Also I'm not very good at guides Dx So I'm sorry if it's not very clear, I might make a guide sometime... Good luk anyway, I hope this was a tiny bit helpfull
