Description My new cat… no name yet because it was a spontaneous decision.
Any suggestions? He's a very sassy one, loves to play and purring all around. Something with 'i' (at the beginning/end,in the middle) would be nice... hmmm : /

Got him from friends. For him meeting my other cat Kina was love at first sight.

What about "Pippin"

Pippin was one of the hobbits and it would be awfully cute for a cat :3

Such beautiful eyes! When you said you were looking for a name with an 'i' I immediately thought Indigo would be a nice name because of his eye color. Indy for short - but maybe that's too much of an Indiana Jones reference, but it would fit with his "sassy" nature!

How cute! Hmm, what name did the breeder give him? Maybe the name could derive from his 'official' one? I always thought that was the easiest solution, unless the name is something that's impossible to shorten or to base a nickname on, it needs to be easy to pronounce after all.

I like Vee-Chann's last suggestion, Isra. It's short and easy, and the meaning fits a cat pretty nicely... Although my Birman is far from independent like cats are usually thought to be.

The breeder gave him the name 'Hobbit'. I kinda like it but it's a bit strange, especially if you're Lord of the Rings Fan - Name a cat after a whole race? haha So we thought about a second name. ...Also it's hard to think about a shortened form or nickname... "Hobbi"?
I like the initial 'H' and a friend of mine told me that a cat's name should contain an 'i' because it's easier for them to recognize their names.
I also love special cat names but "Isra" sounds a bit too female-ish for me. Although it's a pretty name!
The name of my other cat is "Kinako" - a sweetened powder of japanese kitchen which has the same colour as hers. My first male cat died in March and his name was Loki... I really miss him :/

Tee-hee, Hobbit. A cute name but yeah, a bit odd. Btw, I never knew that about the /i/ sound... interesting. I don't know if it's true or not, but I think your cat will learn to recognize its name, no matter what... Most pets answer to all the weird nicknames, too - you know, all those hundred silly names you tend to call your babies with. x) Hope you'll come up with something! At the moment he looks a bit goofy so 'Hobbi' might actually suit him, but once his mask develops I'm not sure he looks like 'Hobbi' anymore, lol. Maybe something a bit more elegant.

I'm very sorry to hear about Loki, losing them is always hard.

Iagan means "The Little Fiery one"
Idris is also "Fiery" or "Fiery Lord"
Ilario is "Cheerful"
Irven, or Irvyn is "White"
Isaac is "He will laugh"
Isra is "freedom"

Just some male names starting with I... and you may have picked up that I like weird names... ^.^;
