It's because they are Ghosts. Ghosts cannot interact with physical objects, only other Ghosts. Attacks from tangible things have no effect on them, but other Ghosts can damage them.Β

I'm kinda disappointed by this. The last few issues made Scourge look like such a formidable threat that was going to take a serious effort to bring down. But suddenly Sonic can just get angry eyes and kill him with one blow?
I hope that this is just some good misdirection, that he's not really dead, and Nicole becomes the Catrina to Scourge's Mil Muertes and revives him with even more Beryl power to create the multi-page fight scene between the two ghost hedgehogs that I thought this comic was building up to. Otherwise, this is very anticlimactic.
