Description Mass Relays are mass transit devices scattered throughout the galaxy, usually located within star systems. They form an enormous network allowing interstellar travel. Hailed as one of the greatest achievements of the extinct Protheans, a mass relay can transport starships instantaneously to another relay within the network, allowing for journeys that would otherwise take years or even centuries with only FTL drives.
Mass relays consist of two fifteen-kilometer long curved metal arms surrounding a set of revolving, gyroscopic rings five-kilometers across. Mass relays function by creating a virtually mass-free "corridor" of space-time between each other.

So in other words, they're Supergates (or did Mass Effect come out before the Ori Saga? In which case, the Supergates are more like Mass Relays).

More or less. You dont enter a gate or such in the Mass Relay. It creates a mass free corridor you can travel in to bypass laws of physics.
The Supergates, in Stargate is like beaming in Star Trek. Objects in transit between gates are broken down into their individual elemental components, and then into energy as they pass through the event horizon, and then travel through a wormhole before being reconstructed on the other side

What an epic image. I'm currently trying to collect mass effect models for some images of my own any leads would be much appreciated.

Look here: masseffectxps.deviantart.com/g…

There are .mesh files who work in the posing program xnalara (free). In there you can export them to an .obj file which are usable for most of the regular 3d programs.
