Could it be? Is it true? A Luna episode!? OH IT'S TWOO, IT'S TWOO!And man, it was pretty good. A little too ensemble, not as much focus on Luna as I might have liked, but that mostly stems from the lack of screen time she gets otherwise. The parts focusing on the other characters were great, entertaining sequences. We got some nice callbacks and cameos out of it too. Speaking of which...
We have ROYALED THE BIG MAC. REPEAT, WE HAVE ROYALED THE BIG MAC. EVERYONE TO THE BUNKERS, THIS IS NOT A DRILL. I just sat there going, "... They fuckin' did it." Not to say that I had a problem with it, mind you. I thought it was hilarious.
So yeah, I guess it's weird to say the Luna episode didn't have enough Luna, but I would have liked a smidge more. What we got, really delving into her fears and her regrets, was fantastic. If she created that thing shortly after her return, then every time we've seen her since the start, she's had this self made nightmare going on in the background. Dark... Is it overkill? Definitely, but who hasn't beaten themselves up relentlessly for past mistakes? Now if we can get a Celestia episode, and then a duet episode with her and Luna, I will be over the moon.

That episode made me love Luna even more. Especially after learning about her self-infliction magical creation. And that final scene of peacefulness for her...

Now this was some episode. It was tons of fun with awesome callbacks, references and WTF moments. I loved every second of those dream sequences and the final battle was spectacular. Giant Derpy, Knight Spike, Princess Big Mac, LyraBon, Monster Angel and Filthy Rich surfing on money were all so over-the-top that I just had to love them. Rainbow Dash's dream and nightmare were the best ones by far.
However, even though the episode was very entertaining, of course it handled some pretty dark themes as well. I had no idea Luna still felt so bad about her time as Nightmare Moon after all these years that she felt like she needed to punish herself with the same nightmare every night. I personally think she was being way too hard on herself. She kept saying she deserved it because she had made other ponies suffer, but... Seriously? A thousand years ago she turned into Nightmare Moon for about three minutes before Celestia defeated her and Celestia was the only pony she attacked. When she returned from the moon, she didn't do anything much worse except zapped some royal guards and tried to stop the Mane Six from finding the EoH in mostly non-lethal ways. The ponies of Equestria would have really suffered only if she had been in power a lot longer, if you ask me. I suppose I just can't understand Luna's massive guilt because I've never done anything really bad to anyone. Nevertheless, I think she was being stupid when she created the Tantabus in the first place. Yes, she didn't realize that it would get stronger over time, but that was even more stupid. Maybe Luna is just a masochist. We learned that Fluttershy likes being a pet and that Big Mac dreams about being a princess, after all.
I could go on for much longer, but I don't think I need to. I think a great, fun episode that deals with such mature problems like this would usually deserve a perfect score, but I'm afraid my final score is 9.5/10.
