that's a very humbling compliment. thank you.
I'll tell you a secret though, I still have a long way to go myself.
just make sure whatever you do is better then the last thing you've already done.
that way you have no choice but to grow.
keep creating.

So SO true. You just used a designers way to display it. The use of your grids(however concious or unconcious) is fantastic and the contrasting colours are vibrant enough but not too over the top. I love the orange especially but I biased when it comes to that colour. Nicely done dude. Definately watching you.

thanks for the comments. I appreciate the feed back. originally I used those rules to keep everything sense I used a grid . . . I guess after staring at it for a while I kinda like them. I'm glad you like the piece though. This all spawned from having breakfast with friends

it's really a blessing. I kind of feel like I've been given a new set of eyes. after design the world is much more interesting to look at.

Seriously. I find myself noticing design in places I never would've seen them before. A bit off topic, but I saw a poster with type design for KFC and then I was like, "...That looks bad." Your work is so much better than that. That type design made me cringe. But yeah, it's amazing how much design there is, even in something as simple as a pencil. Once you notice those things, you really can appreciate design more.

I definitely agree. it feels like I use to view the world in black in white . . . now the world is such wonderful color palette! I wouldn't have it any other way. being the position that we're in as designers, you have a greater appreciation for life in general. I wouldn't dare have it any other way.

That's a really good metaphor to use - the world as a color palette. (: Same here - I simply wouldn't have it any other way.

The message is fantastic, however, I'm not so sure about this composition.
I feel that the white lines take away from this piece. To me, the way this is set up, the lines guide my eye off of the piece or into blank space, especially in that upper left hand corner.
I feel the words could have been used to achieve the effect of reaching out from the text and it would have made this much for powerful. For instance, the words "insane" and "changed" could be great examples to maybe replace the lines with, especially for achieving some more hierarchy in the piece as well. The two lines within the text though are great and hardly even noticable at 1st.
1 other kind of picky comment is maybe have the word "asylum" bleed to end of the page such as the word "The" does at the top. Sorry, I've had that literally beaten into me on my work haha.
The colors are crazy and really achieve that "crazy" kind of feeling to me. I am not sure if you wanted such criticism towrds to piece, but that is just how I am haha. I can't change that. The message, as I said, is fantastic...fantastically brilliant and truly has a meaning, and the piece itself, is very note worthy to me, and just a few simple things could make this an incredible work of text art.

thanks for such a detailed comment. the rules were used to kind of keep everything in tact. and after I was done I kind of liked them so I left them there.
also the color were a representation of insanity as well. I'm glad many of you guys noticed.
I welcome you comments. Its important and only makes me a stronger designer.

my skin is pretty thick. I think it needs to be as an artist. the best comments you can get are the negative ones. those live in the memory longer than the nice ones. either way, to me its a reward . . . because I've managed to bring out an emotion from my audience.
as a designer / artist . . . asking for anything more is just plain greedy. thanks again buddy
