Oh, I've read it ! I also watched the movie, the 1999 one. And was actually disappointed by the actress playing Titania.
She must have been a better actress for this role.

Oh, really? I have not seen the 1999 version yet. Well, this actress, Anita Louise, was only twenty when this film was made in 1935, but she had been a child actress from a very early age, and had a very demanding mother, who pushed her carreer from a very early age. The director of this film was actually from Germany, and had already had a huge career in Berlin theatre. It's quite impressive how he took all those movie stars, including Jimmy Cagney, and made them seem entertaining as well as convincing.

She really was almost "too beautiful". That's a good way to describe her. Thanks.

She sure is a looker. Perfect lips and eyebrows...
I love how back then, they'd take the photo in grey scale (because they had to,) and then paint the colours over it. Gives a great effect.

Oh, my! Thanks. Actually this was part of a much larger publicity still from the 1935 movie. I extracted her and cleaned in up, made it sharper, and added the color. Whenever I add color to one of these old pictures, I try to use restraint, so it still retains a retro look. I really appreciate your comments. She has a really powerful effect on me, and it's just a feeling of simpatico, rather than an erotic thing. Anita always makes me feel good, like there is some beauty and order to life, after all.

That's got to be Anita Louise. Wow, cool!

That's right. She was a star in feature films, B-pictures, radio, and, later, TV.
Her full name was Anita Louise Fremault, but she never used her last name. She appeared in movies ever since she was a small child. She had one of those "theater" mothers who pushed her along.
