Chapter 6 : A Difficult Childhood (End)

Erika got over slowly of the death of her parents because of the fire which caused 10 deceased's. After this fire, she has been adopting by the old woman who saved her and called Constance Dove. Erika waited Constance Dove, who had gone shopping, in front of the table, with a sad feeling, wondering where her brother is.
When Mrs. Constance was back, she's not alone. Erika turned et saw Clive who was next to Mrs. Dove. She can't believe that. She rose from her chair and run to Clive, with tears.
"Erika : I believed you was in the fire…
- Clive : Like you saw, I wasn't. Sorry if you worried because of me but I was worried too. I believed you stayed at home.
- Erika : No, I wanted to apologize.
- Constance : Well, I'm going to let you.
- Clive : Thank you again, Mrs. Constance.
- Constance : You're welcome ^^. *leaves of the room*
- Erika : In fact, Clive…
- Clive & Erika : I'm sorry!
- Clive : Why do you apologize?
- Erika : Because I wasn't allowed to hit you for that.
- Clive : Don't worry, I deserved it.
- Erika : No, you said the truth, I think only at me…

- Erika : And I thought about something. When I saw the fire in front of me, I made some scenarios. But one which I wanted to happen, it's if I asked at Mum and dad to come with me to look for you, they will be always alive…
- Clive : Do you want me to reassure you? If you discovered my present later, it's you, with our parents, who won't be here. So be happy to be always alive.
- Erika : Yes, I'm sorry."
Clive hugged her little sister in order to console her for this terrible tragedy which they went through at the moment.
5 years after Clive and Erika had been adopting, Constance Dove died bequeathing all her fortune. Clive decided to go to the university to get a qualification after. Erika joined him 1 year after him.
The day after Clive graduated, Erika woke up peacefully and discovered a letter on the table et read it :

Dear Erika,

I'm sorry to say that, but I decided to become a reporter, in order to find people who produced this fire which killed our parents. So I decided to let you alone. I'm sure you can live alone with any problem, you're a intelligent and resourceful sis'. I hope you don't bear a grudge against me.
See ya, I hope we will see again soon.

Erika read this letter many time, she felt abandoned and alone in the world. She cries when she finished to read this letter. Even if in the university, she had a Japanese student, called Sakura, as a friend, she didn't find the smile. During Archeology class, when the class was finished, the Professor Layton asked to Erika to stay in the end of the class.
"Layton : These last days, I think you feel melancholic, are you ok?
- Erika : Of course, why do you say that?
- Layton : Your marks decrease considerably.
- Erika : Sorry, Professor…
- Layton :: Don't you want to tell me what's happened? This will stay between us.
- Erika : … Alright, I trust you, Professor."
Erika told all the story to Professor Layton : the loss of her parents and the leaving of her brother.
"Layton : I see. Well, if you need help, I'm here.
- Erika : In fact... I need you…
- Layton : Ah? Which subject?
- Erika : I heard you're able to investigate or resolve mysteries… I would like you help me to look for my brother!
- Layton : What? But I don't know all on your investigation.
- Erika : I know… But at least, I want to go with you to look for him. If I keep away from London, I may have more chances to find him.
- Layton : Maybe. But some investigations can be dangerous, are you sure? I don't want you to hurt you. And your closed friends and family can worry.
- Erika : Which closed friends and family? My parents and my adoptive mother are dead. I just have my brother. That's why I was telling to you about this.
- Layton : I see. In this instance, you can. But be careful.
- Erika : Yes, Professor. Thank you so much!
Erika smiled. It was the first since the death of her parents or even the leaving of Clive.
