Chapter 5 : A Difficult Childhood

Layton, with the help of Celeste, succeed to stop Clive but the fortress will explode in 10 minutes. Clive, hysteric, he approaches at one of the windows, whereas Erika stares him in the face, even if she's a little shaken.
"Clive : This isn't happening. It can't end this way. … It won't end this way!"
Whereas Clive loses control, a cable breaks and knocks out Clive. Erika, seeing that, tries to go to him even if she's weak. When she's in front of him, she begins to cry.
"Erika : Clive! Wake up please! If you don't wake up, we'll disappear with the fortress! Clive! …"
That's when Clive and Erika remember together their childhood which caused this.

10 years ago, Erika and Clive lived in London, in a calm neighborhood and it's isolated of the city. Whereas their father read the newspaper, their mother baked a cake for a special event. At that time, Erika enters in the kitchen.
"Erika : Mum, what do you bake?
- Mummy : Hihi, it's a secret.
- Erika : Can I guess?
- Mummy : Yes, my darling.
- Erika : Is it… my birthday cake for tomorrow?

Erika go out of the building where they lived and ran to their secret hideout where they went every day.

Erika hits Clive and runs to the house. The dinner stayed silent and tomorrow arrived. Erika was going to wake up.
"Mummy and Daddy : Happy birthday, Erika ^^!

- Mummy : Are you always sad because of Clive?

Erika sat down to have breakfast when she discovers a box with a letter on the table.
"Erika : What's this?
- Mummy : I don't know. Maybe it's for you."
Erika read the letter aloud.
"Erika : Dear sis',
I apologize to be reacted like that yesterday. While this can be allow you to forgive me, there's something for you on the box. I hope you'll enjoy it and happy birthday.

Erika opened the box which was under the letter and she discovers a wonderful pink necklace.
"Erika : So Clive didn't forget… Where is he?
- Daddy : I believe he's left in your hideout.
- Erika : Right, thanks Dad ^^
When Erika went to see Clive and when she's exited the building, a big explosion appeared in a laboratory, which provoked a big fire. Erika stayed open-mouthed in front of this fire and she began to cry enormously. She was standing up and began to approach of the building in fire when an old woman stopped her.
"Erika : Let me, I must save my parents!
- Old woman : It's too late for them, you have to move away of this fire, otherwise you'll finish like them.
- Erika : NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
