After being enter in the Towering Pagoda, and after Erika escaped of the Tower with and Future Luke, the rest is faithful at the game, so we're going to return at the moment when everybody are in the Thames Arms and when Professor Layton reveals the true culprit.
"Layton : Someone here masterminded a scheme even more awful than yours, Dimitri. And that person is there!
Clive : !! I think you're mistaken, Professor.
Layton : No, there's no mistake here. And there's no hiding it anymore, Luke. Or should I call you Clive?

Layton : It took some time to put together the pieces of your plan. But when I finally understood it all, the sheer evil of it sent a chill down my spine.

After, Constance Dove accommodated both at her during 5 years before she's dead, transferring them a lot of money. And finally, after some years, after Clive had got his qualification and he left Erika alone to work for a big newspaper in order to track down the guys who destroy their lives.
When Professor Layton announced Clive's terrible plan, everybody was thunderstruck, and mainly Erika who is almost with no voice and she cries.
"Erika : C… Clive… Tell me you joke…
- Clive : You can see I don't laugh.
- Erika : But it's horrible! All this plan only for our parent? Do you want to sacrifice thousands of lives, just for them? I can't understand your logic.
- Clive : Erika. Now our promise is broken, you owe me something.
- Erika : What? But I respected the promise!
- Layton : Sorry to interrupt you but what is this promise?
- Erika : Well…
- Clive : Erika, don't do that!
- Erika : I listen to you anymore, I'm sorry but I don't recognize you, Clive. And like you said earlier, our promise is broken, I can't see the interest now to hide this.
Now, we're going to have a little flashback : the moment when Clive had to resonate Erika not to accompany them.
"Erika : Why don't you want me to accomp… Are they gone?

- Erika : But I don't understand something. Why make you believe Professor Layton and Luke you are Future Luke and what is this town?

Then Clive explains at Erika the secret of this underground city.

- Clive : Can you? But I would like you promise me something.

- Clive : I want you to promise me you'll say nothing about our childhood and about I said you earlier.
- Erika : Alright, I promise you.
- Clive : Words aren't enough for me. I would like you give me something in case that you'll say everything.
- Erika : Eh? Well what do you want in return?
- Clive : Hmm… The necklace which you wear now.
- Erika : What?! The necklace which you offered me for my birthday the day when all started?
- Clive : Yes, that one.
Erika : I can do that! It's the only thing which still reminds me of our parents the only thing which I succeeded to save the day of the incident.
