Personal preference honestly,  when I stopped combat patrolling and was with Civil Affairs I didn't have my IR laser so I had room to put it there.

No worries, if you see some of my other pics you'll see it above the reciever as issued.  The only benefit you get is more situational awareness and supposedly more accuracy.

I've yet to use one in a tactical situation so I wouldn't know honestly, only used it in overwatch positions thus far.

Okay, its easy to use, keep it center of mass for close targets and beyond 50m  or so roll the dot onto the target and shoot, as by some magic the bullet will hit.

Yeah only God knows how it works but if your shit is zeroed it'll hit the target.
