Description 25k Polygons, textured version on hold (heh)

Experimental Planetary/Space Craft, armed with 1 forward shooting 6x LR Plasma Lance and 9x12 Long Range Missiles, Ability to lay mines

Hope ye like it!

Please comment if you like it or if you have any ideas

Final Version, Sorry for the EDIT spam.. it will remain how it is now though!

If someone feels like texturing it....

Kinda taken a liking of the current look though As Texture it doesnt look so bad, or does it?

I really REALLY need some idea for an textured version to ever happen, theres a lot of "open" hull here, and just a random texture will look butt ugly, but its too big (and spacy) and too small a ship for me to have any clue what texture to *make* And procedual shader won't do (trust me, i tried )

The Height of the ship is as follows (so you get an idea)

Hull (without armement extensions)
-10m high (2 Decks, rest is armor)
-7m wide
-47m long

Complete Ship

16m High and Wide
47m long

Crew is 5

The cables on top are just there so the Prototype status gets clear... they dont have any funky use

Thanks for reading this far, you get a..... PIE!
But the PIE is a LIE!

Seems realistically Spartan in its design. That's worth noting.

The ship on the left looks remarkably like one of the concept ship drawings from an early, early version of Homeworld 1.

Really? which corvette?

Unless it's a model unseen ingame, none of the corvettes in HW2 resemble this concept ship.

The ship I'm referring to is a vessel seen in early, early promotional images for Homeworld. The only recognizable ship seen with them was the beginnings of the Taiidan Resource collector. The early prototype of the Taiidani multigun/T-Mat frigate were also seen during this time.

Oi how did i miss this o.O

Yes you are completely right, its a concept that floated around from VERY early homeworld times. Of course not stuck completely to sketch ,p

Its actually a rebuild of a Corvette from Homeworld 2 So that is well within the possible

I like the modelling end result, but I liked the yellow you had on there a couple of edits back. It gave a more "worky"-look.

Hehe But who would paint his spaceship yellow? uh, lets just forget about colorfull ships in Homeworld 2 here

I think ppl would rip me apart if id edit this again, hehe

Thanks I will edit this pic soon, over the night i had a new idea how to fix the (ugly) back section properly... i will do away with the upper and lower fins... It wouldnt need that even in planet atmosphere... after all its got 4 side thrusters which can stabilize much better...

I fear the texturing hehe

If someone got any good ideas how to improve it feel free to tell me ,)

nice... which program do you use. i use blender but still find it a bit complicaed... you could call me a n00b even though i've been at it for a year.

Lo im using Cinema 4D Heh i taught myself over like 3-4 years how to use it, still learning nevertheless

unclefuchs In reply to eRe4s3r [2007-11-17 02:28:29 +0000 UTC]

yeah it's all pretty complicated

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

eRe4s3r In reply to unclefuchs [2007-11-17 17:06:42 +0000 UTC]

indeed but Blender really *is* complicated, complicated to get used to atleast, i allways look with awe at what ppl do with Blender, my tries with it (and im quite fast to catch on new GUI and stuff usually) ended in horror, i can not even imagine how to work anywhere effective with Blender, but it seems that ppl new to 3d-design who start straight away with Blender dont have this Problem... Oh well

Buttom Line is, Trial and Error is the easiest way

unclefuchs In reply to eRe4s3r [2007-11-17 23:25:11 +0000 UTC]

yeah i've found that too... it just happened to be the first 3d free program i found
