Description ..crimson-orange, even just playing around with an older pic from my trip to Japan a few years ago. this was taken at the imperial palace if I remember correctly, which of course I mean I am probably wrong heh. the full view is really great, because you can see these two guys in the doorway who are working, maintaining the grounds..they are such the neat people! then us slob americans come in an' trash their temples (I tried to be respectful!! )

ps, garnet is also my birthstone color..whatever significance that is

Really, really nice photo!
It looks like the Meiji-Shrine in Yoyogi Park in Tokyo... Here's a photo I took when I visited Japan last year: [link]
(there are more pics of Tokyo's skyscrapers in my gallery ^^)

I'm looking forward to visit Japan this year again!

You know. I started out hating this. Yet, every time I view it, I'm drawn to it. Beautiful peace. The pun was mandatory; describing what I feel and what I think it represents.

Excellent color tones! I really like the washed out contrast. Excellent photo. I love how the culture is so different. So much more respectful. I would love to go there.

As you've probably noticed, I found your gallery just today and it turned out to be damn good. Still, if I had to pick one photo from the gallery, it wouldn't require more than just a few seconds to choose this one. The shadows, the way the two parts blend together (the forest helps greatly in this) and especially the sky with its rays of light, I just love it all.

One of the best photos I've ever seen in DA.

Great shot, I like the color change on the sky in this one. Man I would love to go to Japan sometime. So much culture and the people seem very respectable and nice. It’s amazing how they are leading in technology but yet they pay great respect to traditions. It’s all about balance I guess.

A very interesting way to tone a photo - I like the subtle change from red to green within the frame, one barely notices it - really well done!

This is beautiful, i wish i could go to Japan. How was it? You have some fantastic colours in there and the architecture is just amazing. Did you play with the photo to get those colours? or was it actually like that? Anyway has to be a fav

er0k In reply to Fingathing [2005-08-24 01:40:03 +0000 UTC]

thanks! and yes, Japan was indeed amazing. I did a bit of the westerner tourist thing, on busses around Tokyo, etc. as well as the backdoor stuff that some friends showed me around to all the great little sushi places and karoke bars ... as far as the colors, I added a color adjustment layer of a red hue ontop of the original image, and faded it by using the "Color Burn" option..so a bit of playing..but not too much

Fingathing In reply to er0k [2005-08-25 11:24:10 +0000 UTC]

What version of photoshop do you use? I hear a lot of this colour burn and want to know more i have PS 7, but hopefully will get PS CS2 soon Any help would be ace

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

er0k In reply to Fingathing [2005-08-30 02:42:14 +0000 UTC]

I use CS, I have yet to try CS2 out though..but I'm sure I will get around to it someday as far as the color burn..it is available in PS 7, too..all you have to do is select that as the "Blend Mode" if you are using a brush or as the blend mode of a fill (look for a drop-down box, like in the properties of a brush or on the layers menu area)

Good luck bud!

The color is phenomenal. I love the tint because it makes the picture seem warm and chilly at the same time. I like how we can see little details under the roof, but not too much--it's almost like there are a bunch of secrets in there.

I have no doubt that temple was filled with secrets..(it was quite ancient, very highly respected for it's age, too)..so that's very cool of you to get that from this

stay good m'dear!
