Description So our class was given a health assignment to design a T-shirt to promote not-smoking, and I came out with this little guy. 'leave the smoking to dragons' hehe.Β  The tail's all weird, ignore the smoke and don't even get me started on the legs, but overall it's alright, so it's going on DA! Β

I think the proportions in the legs and tail are fine. I love the effect you've usedΒ for the smoke. The whole artwork looks great! whish I'd thought of something this amazing for the health assignment Β

thanks it's not so much the proportions as the leg's complete lack of anatomy (Me: I'm feeling lazy.. legs... hmmm... I know! CIRCLES!!!)Β  and the tail's weird position.Β  but thankyou!

The effects on this one are nice! I would like to know how you shade the wings on your dragons. I fail at that...

thankyou!
It's annoying, but what I do, is I start with colouring it with flat colour, then I lock the layer to stop it from going outside of the wing (I recently discovered this- so helpful!) and then using a small brush I go over it with a shade of the original colour, going in the direction of the wings... about five million times.Β  Then I do the same with a light colour, in the highlighted areas.Β  basically just playing around with dark and light colours until I'm happy with it.
wow.. that got long.. but I hope it helped!!!

How do you lock colours in anything ;_; I can never figure it out! I see it in all these tutorials, but they never tell me how to do it...

I'm not sure if you can in MS, but in photoshop, above the layers there's a little checkered square icon that you click on, and your selected layer should then have a little picture of a padlock next to it, indicating it's locked.Β  This way you can shade without worrying about going outside the lines

This can happen in SAI too I think. I must experiment soon!
Also I should probably get photoshop. That might work!

yeah, cool!Β  Experimenting is the only way to learn in software.Β  but there's so much art to be done (not to mention EVERYTHING ELSE) that I rarely have the time ;_;
