Here is a drawing using [link] as a reference........(she takes awesome pictures!!)........I learned a new technique and tried it out with my colored pencils!!! I could have kept going to get a more realistic look, but I wanted to be done!!! What do ya think????
I have had cockatiels...........they are so sweet............

Prismacolors and about 3 hours of my day..............

Me too! I wanted a Cockatoo but I don't have the time for one in my life right now Maybe someday!

I'd love an Indian ringneck or a pair of lovebirds. Probably nothing all that much bigger. Good luck with your birdy dream and your wonderful art!

This is beautiful! I have a cockatiel living with me ... not that he knows he's a bird or anything. It's like having a small child, temper tantrums and all. I love how the border look like its been chewed on by the subject ... there are lots and lots of paper-y bits around my house that look like that.

Thank you! I LOVE birds! I have had Cockatiels they are beautiful. I also had a green parakeet when I was 8 years old, he lived until I turned 23!!! He was my little buddy (budgie ) and friend. I miss him

this is just stunning! i would think that drawing birds would be especially hard, but you seem to have really mastered it. NICE JOB! You're got a lot of nice detail in this too!

Actually, it's a very good likeness to Smokie. Dom's picture is better only because it actually was OF him.

Love the featherwork and his eyes are perfect.

Apart from the 'flat' part of his head being a little too long... you've done a brill' job i love these birds & have had one in the past, they are very entertaining

I didn't notice the head being a bit too long............... That is why it is good to have input from others!!

They are entertaining indeed! I love birdies!! I have had 3.............and one Parakeet that lived for 15 years!!

No prob..........I am my worst critic !! I am comparing my pic and the reference right now

I am crazy! My kids get so upset with me, I can be working on something for a couple of hours, and then just chuck it in the garbage!!! I shall keep this one however!! I LURVE it AND, I tried out a new technique that I really enjoyed as well!!! Now all I need is some more time to draw

Oh and I wanted a Cockatoo SO BAD!!!! I have read and learned much about them and YES they are a HUGE responsibility............like having a two year old for 60 to 80 years!!! They are so adorable though, and smart, and snuggily..............*sighs*

I want to travel someday too! SCOTLAND and IRELAND!!!

My daughter does that... then i sneak them out & put them with all the other keep sakes
Oh i know that one... more time my worst enemy.

you sound as bad as me... i crave a dog (was brought up with all sorts of animals, ess' dogs. i miss them so much but not sure i'll ever go back down that road).

Oh you'll love Scotland not been to Ireland my self yet but i believe it's just as beautiful

He is adorable.

I had a hand fed cockatiel that looked just like him named Bugok. Man, they are talkers. Mine used to whistle the Star Wars theme, gargle, and imitate the Bob and Doug Mackenzie tapes I let him listen to..

I had one of those! His name was Tito, he screeched....a lot! But he was so cute! This is very realistic, he looks very happy! Makes you think he's going to move right off the page....nice birdie...*pets the birdie feathers*

how cute is that! Mine would only do the wolf whistle! But I did have a Green-cheeked Amazon parrot that could talk. He laughed just like I did, and when the phone rang he would say "hello" in my voice. Very creepy! My friend had a yellow-naped parrot. One day when I went to visit, I knocked on the door and she called "come in!". When I came in, she wasnt there, she was upstairs, the parrot had called me in, in Nancy's own voice. It's like having a ventriloquist! We have a little green parakeet now, who imitates the summer birds, and in the dead of winter, will burst into bird calls, makes me feel like summer is still here! And she loves the piano!

My bird that lived 15 years was a little green parakeet named Sam (my Husband's name is Sam LOL) That little birdy was so neat...............KISSY KISSY!!! They are not supposed to live that long!!! I got him when I was 8 years old!! he lived til I was 23 Weird hey???? He did all kinds of crazy and funny antics!!!! Most had to see it/hear it to believe it!!! I miss him.............
