Just about real time progress on my tank build. Over the course of the week I was able to get a bit done. I have painted up the hull, turret and a few bits here and there. A mixture of different weathering, paint chips and dry brushing. I also was able to give everything a few different washes to hopefully give a rusty and grimy look. When I am more done, I will use some pigments as well and really giving it out in the waste look.On a cold Tuesday morning, I stopped being indecisive and opened a bottle of paint and went for it. The basic color scheme is flint gray, German uniform and euro gray. Add in a bit of brown and rust washes and this is what you get. I am still not 100% in love with the color but it has been growing on me. It certainly is a distinct gray and I haven't seen anything done up in these colors so that was a prerequisite. Β Hopefully with a bit more wreathing and everything else done it will all pay off.
Anyways having this much done is kind of a relief. While I still have a mountain of stuff to do, its growing near to the 1/2 mark on the tank, and not so much a uphill battle anymore. Over the weekend I hope to get the tracks, road wheels, side skirts painted and on. Next week will be everything else for the tank proper, and the week after that will be stowage and everything else. Wish me luck!

yea it does! it was really snowing when i started painting this and wanted something that would work in urban/cold environments. i am thinking when i am done, the conditions will be right out side for it to look the part.Β thinking about staging some sort of shoot on my the cement i take some pics on. maybe let an older building diorama get covered in ice and snow and get the tank out there with it.
anyways the color was the one thing i was wicked stressed over and while its not 100% how i envisioned it, its growing on me and i like it more than i hate it XD

awesome, thats kinda what i was going for. as i started to paint it(a darker gray) it started snowing outside and i remembered that DLC, thought be might be neat to do it more in that style. hopefully it pays off and comes together once i get more done.

i have done a bit, as when i start other things it will be hard to paint and weather(lower hull, turret)

well its painted for the most part, probably no camo by this point(am am bad at it without an airbrush)

Β your not bad at it, your probably better at it than me.Β this model is pretty extreme and $$ so i really didn't want to add anther thing to stress about, some day ill sit down and try to lean to hand paint camos, but on this one, not taking a chance XD

Β the pitted look(kinda un realistic but cool looking) is done by a few different things. first off is literately pitting the plastic in places with my knife tip(before priming and painting) smoothed out with some sanding(the wash really brings them out)Β some times i pick two colors(a metal and a dark under color) and use a sponge dipped in pant and dabbed on paper towel(to get excess off) then gently dabbed on the kit, creating scratches and more pits. some "jet exhaust" metal color dry brushing for a little highlighting . after all that a few different washes and VoilΓ ! lol well at least thats my process.
sorry to ramble on(its late here). anyways hope some of that gives you some ideas.
