Not so well-versed on Harry Potter, but I do like me some owls, and this is a stunning composition. The midnight blue on black is just perfet for your subject, and the wide black frame really makes the central artwork leap out at you. Beautiful work

awwhaahaa, that's the worst I've ever heard! shame on you!
no, you got to be queen because queens are serene, and calm, and wise, and have huge wings for everyone to hide under.
They made the perfect choice!
- You don't get to be the old mother who lived in a shoe quite yet, my dear.

like this alot emm, does remind me of harry potter, the road the wizard is on though seem a bit stretched out of shape in the squares and looks sureal so it stands a bit out from the rest of the image but overall its a very creative and majical piece

DigiPixie [2004-08-31 13:42:52 +0000 UTC]

A hunchback turtle...LOL...I know how THAT feels! I love this! It's so pretty & magical & perfectly conveys that Harry Potter look. I don't have a problem with the owl...I think he integrates perfectly...but maybe you've fixed it??? Your pixiedust is nice & shiny...all I would do to give it a more random, natural look is give it a 50-100 angle jitter & a size jitter of about 35%...but I love it just as it is!

zimm [2004-08-30 17:44:30 +0000 UTC]

cool....much better.....great glowing star on the staff......that just gave the wizard a whole new look of dimension

excellent pixie dust.....now maybe you can explain how yu do that to me (specially the scattering...coz i can never get that right)................

ah the dreaded 'lens flare'.............. yay!!!!!

like the way some parts of the image overlap the frame.....( i like the fact that you frame work....i'm too damn lazy too, and i always seem to make my frames the wrong size)

althugh there is still something that sticks out to me......right in the center of the pic.....to the left of the pixie sparkle on the owl's chest at the last light (number 6)...there is something greyish/brown hiding in the group of trees......que est que c'est??
it isn't reflected anywhere in the water.....and if it's going to be there....it would be reflected at that perspective.....

this work looks crisper than the other version ,especially the butterflies.....they seem to have more detail.........

.....carry on...as you where

Im really lovin the crispness and lighting, thats really your strength

thank you! - and good to see you, it's been a while!
I don't think you can get pixiedust on readymixed jars yet, you'll have to make your own.

DigiPixie explains how to in her comment on my "magic".
I've added an extra ingredient, make an extra layer, load the assorted brushes, and pick the starburst small. click a couple of times over each dot to get bursts. Or you could just scatter the burst brush in the first place instead of the soft round brush maybe, but I haven't tried that yet, I'm new at this myself.
I'll be happy to try and answer any questions, you know where to find me.

really cool manip there emm... as zimm said about the owl, its too, how can i put this, too bright in contrast compared to the surroundings, but stunning work

How long did this take you............?

Definitely gonna fav this!

emmcreations In reply to tartanmartin [2004-08-30 09:24:00 +0000 UTC]

I'm glad you like it, I've made the changes to it as zimm suggested, so everything looks much better now. It took me about 2,5 - 3 hours as most of my things.
but then you can add a half-an-hour fix-up today.

Thanks.

zimm [2004-08-29 23:47:43 +0000 UTC]

hey great manip......but you won't mind if i pick out things though........i like the road or whatever the wizard is standing on...looks like a chessboard......however....i think his shadow is too sharp and doesn't match the shadows on the trees (colour and direction) also the staff in his hand is opposite to the shadows (is that intended?).....

are the trees reflected in water?? if so...maybe a slight water distortion in the reflection....

i like the fireflys or orbs that you made....but you have an extra one reflected in the water above the 3rd tree from the front that isn't up top (not talking about the orbs in the foreground, because they wouldn't show reflections from that angle).........also,,,there is something at the 6th group of trees that isn't blue or doesn't match the rest of the pic (next to the 2 orbs by the owl's chest).....what is it?????

the owl....great pic of a snowy owl, but it should have the same colour cast as the rest of the pic (i feel anyway....so that it doesn't look so out of place)...also, add a slight shadow to the feet where it is sitting on the branch, and try and get rid of that black line around the bottom of it, also the outer glow around it looks abit too presice, and maybe turn down the opacity of it...

sorry for being so critical.....but i'd expect the same from you

I love you for doing this! You've made me very happy. Honestly. And your absolutely right. For the most part. I started this much too late last night, and I hurried like a hunchback turtle to submit it and still get more than 5 hours sleep. Idiot.
However, with my morningcoffe came a new and improved "enchanted" (Iwork in advertizing):
I fixed the wizards shadow so it's the same as the tree he's closest to, and flipped it of course The trees are reflected in the water, but that is the stock as it is, and I choose to leave it be. I took away the fireblobs and made new sparkly ones, and not nearly as many (finally figured out the scatter thing). Actually, all the lightreflections in the water are in the stock, so unless the photographer has manipulated it, the lights do reflect this way.
The rest of the "orbs" were meant to be magic and not reflections, ;I said it was late. lol. I took them away. I did put a blue colorcast on the owl, it is yellowtoned originally, but I made it too vague, so it just seemed white and not blue. I've strengthened it some in the new one, but I don't want it to be too blue either, I want it to be perceived as white. Added the shadow, fixed the glow and the dark line.. thanks.

Oh, and go say hi to *saiaii She wishes she had you to comment on her things, so I was thinking of renting you out. lol.

i actuall didn't mind the shadow of the wizard being the opposite way round.......after all he is a wizard and he can do what he wants....

does your advertising company need an artist????? (well apart from you.....seriously.....i hate my job.....i'm a chemical engineer for a major food production company over here)....maybe i shouldn't say that.....you might not want to eat ever again....:lol

a hunchback turtle??? i can't say i've ever seen one of those.....maybe i will......

5 hours sleep!?!?!? some people are lucky aren't they..... i generally drone on about 3 hours a night, drink about 7 coffees within 2 hours, and smoke a pack a day.....ya....i feel refreshed
