Blind Folds, helmets with pieces of metal blocking the eye holes
Alva's helm
Smough and Ornstein helm
Yuira's billed mask
Eygon's helmet
The list goes on.
But if Emlan is right, and you can just magically see through it, then I want a helm like that. My eyes are protected, and I can see my enemy.

i think with the knight like ones it is a whole you can see through, i know smough really sees though his neck

Rexlare In reply to Evodolka [2017-12-19 00:53:49 +0000 UTC]
That would make sense, but there's an issue.
With the Dragonslayer helms, and Eygons helms, there's possibly a gap in between the teeth or at the mouth, but look close enough and you can see they're either too small or obscured by the teeth itself. So that doesn't work.
Smough's neck piece would work, but the eyes don't have any gaps.
And again, Alva's helm has actual metal in between the eye bars.

both ornstien and eygon are faith based characters maybe they can see using that?
bit of a stretch but i am gong off the 2 blind people (fire keeper and the DS3 faith shop girl) both are blind yet faith based
never noticed with alvas helm

Rexlare In reply to Evodolka [2017-12-21 00:54:24 +0000 UTC]
1. Is Ornstein really a Faith build? Because his weapon only has a scale rating.
2. I don't think Faith would be the thing to give you sight past metal.
Well the Firekeeper apparently DOESN'T have eyes, and the faith girl (Irina) is just regular blind and doesn't move about without help.
Alva's helm, the Alonne Knight Helms, and many others have that issue. Just flat metal behind the eye bars. Granted, it gives you maximum protection, but you can't see.

1. Honestly, I always wanted his spear to be a Dex/Faith weapon, because there aren't enough of those.
2. That could work actually, still, I'd think Sorcery would be more fitting to give you a sixth sense sort of thing. EYES, GRANT US EYES
She just kind of... sits there... sells you some miracles... and then if you follow her right, she turns into a firekeeper that you visit all of TWO TIMES BECAUSE FROMSOFT IS LOSING THEIR TOUCH FOR USEFUL AND INTERESTING NPC'S.
I feel like it'd be a lot easier to just leave those gaps as untextured black holes, like they do with the Faraam helmet, but they rather gave a textured metal plating... I'm calling BS there.

Rexlare In reply to Evodolka [2017-12-21 23:06:19 +0000 UTC]
In DS3... actually, how about we just make Faith Builds viable instead? I'LL TAKE THAT ONE MIYAZAKI!
Dark Souls 3: Offers the best Miracles in all the games with the most diverse gameplay, makes them super weak.
It's a great weapon, but I do wish it had a faith scaling for Dex/Faith builds. Even if it was a D rating.
Well as a Fire Keeper, supposedly she regains her sight. Either that or she stumbled about the place until she found her way in the tower... it's amazing she didn't fall off into the abyss like I forced the Master to do.
Miyazaki said that he has no more plans with Dark Souls... but the new game they're working on MIGHT be a Bloodborne sequel, which I would love since Bloodborne is the best Fromsoft game ever.

Rexlare In reply to Evodolka [2017-12-22 00:12:21 +0000 UTC]
Friend, I've already completed DS3 in its entirety, got all the weapons and everything.
Only thing I haven't played/tested with are the Black Knight weapons because I don't like em, but they are powerful undoubtedly.
The Asotra Great Sword is the ULTIMATE BUILD weapon, because you can infuse it with any gem and make it friendly for your build. Only exception being strength as it only gets a C while dex gets an A.
Who knows, Dark Souls greatest secret is that Miyazaki intentionally leaves things out without explanation. Just to let the players put the clues together themselves.
And I'm not complaining.
I can definitely see Bloodborne as a Series game... I mean, I'm sure Dark Souls 1 felt the same way, but look what they added to it. But I definitely want a Bloodborne 2, that has more content than the first... and PLEASE, a rifle aiming mechanic.
I heard that it could be that ninja game too, but we'll have to wait and see.

I got it aaaaaaaaaaaaaall. I even got a big freaking head on my character to make the Soul of Cinder helmet look better on the Ringed Knight armor so that I actually look like a Knight of Death rather than a loser with a tiny skull.
It's an amazing sword. Just don't use that weapon art on a parry king.
There is no such thing as perfection.
Honestly, I disagree. Dark Souls 2 expanded greatly on the Dark Souls universe, because it didn't keep us in the same place and take us to the same worlds (Ala Anor Londo and the Painted Worlds) but it expanded on the other worlds. Drangleic is just another country in this world, and it was definitely worth seeing. Plus the four daughters of Mannus offered great insight onto how the darkness of the abyss works.
I really wanted DS3 to rely less on bringing back old character armors and lands, and just expand on what else was in this crazy universe of hollows and monsters. And especially focus more on the rise of the Abyss, since the fire was fading so much.
In terms of Bloodborne, I could see them expanding in a similar way, take us to a different place rather than Yharnam, with a different culture and different involvement with the Great Ones, show us another side to that alien race, perhaps of them even enslaving humans?
As someone who's writing his own fictional world and story, I believe that you can ALWAYS expand on your worlds, so long as you don't limit yourself to one location.
But yeah, I'm not holding onto the faith it's Bloodborne 2. But if it does play anything like it, I'll definitely enjoy it.
Besides, that Teaser trailer definitely made it look like Bloodborne, with some device holding a bone and with its mechanisms oiled in blood.

Yeah, if you need to find something, you can consult ME.
It's absolutely that. Three is the sequel to one, and two is it's own thing. And I wouldn't have it any other way honestly, two is absolutely worth playing, because you're in a new world with a lot to see. Sure, it's not perfect and definitely more akin to a typical Fantasy RPG than the Dark Souls styled way of things, but it does it good.
My problem with three is that it takes references and bringing back old things from games TOO MUCH. 50% of the weapons/armors and environments are all from previous games, and some of them aren't even good come backs.
NO ONE WANTS THE RUIN SENTINEL SET, I WANTED THE ALONNE CAPTAIN SET!!!
Also, WHERE'S MY F**KING SAMURAI HELMET?!
I'm glad they ended on number three, because it's a great hot mess to me, it has so many flaws that stand out and make the game generally stand out as the LEAST true of a dark souls game, compared to the other two.
Like I said, there's definitely way's to expand on Bloodborne.
Now that I wouldn't mind. Victorian Ninja's? THAT SOUNDS AWESOME.

A bit late on this, but there is some stuff from DS2 in DS3. Namely, Laddersmith Gilligan's corpse near the Profaned Capital Bonfire and the Drang Twinspears/Drang Hammers being a nod to DS2's power-stance mechanic. Plus it's implied that Drang = Drangleic as the armor set is nearly identical (Even made with Geisteel, metal reserved for higher-ups in Drangleic) to the Llewellyn set from DS2 and weapons talk of a far away land. Oh, and Creighton is talked about here and there in some item descriptions.
π: 0 β©: 1
Rexlare In reply to Acroar [2018-01-11 09:20:28 +0000 UTC]
Yes, I am aware of all those references. And in all fairness, those are ones that I think are good. They're subtle enough and bring enough of a point other than just "Hey remember this old thing? Have it again."
Like Creighton not being talked about but actually being in the game itself, it makes sense since all of Rosaria's fingers represent a From Soft game, Creighton representing DS2 of course while Xanthous is Demon Souls, Kirk is DS1 and Leonhard being a Bloodborne inspired character.
Gilligan is a tiny joke reference, nothing other than a laugh.
The Drangleic sets and weapons are also nice because plenty of people like the armor, and dual weapons are a good replacement for power stancing (Though not as fun).
My problem is just how much of DS3 is references and bringing back old material rather than inventing more new stuff to expand on Dark Souls. Bringing back Havel the Rock is something that I can fully understand, since he's existed in all the other games, so why wouldn't he come back? But bringing in Sheva, Lautrec, the Ninja, Black Witch Zoe, THE RUIN ARMOR, these are all acting as a filler for trying to make new designs and stories, and filler is never good unless it has an actual purpose. Darkmoon Knightess, Ornstein, Havel, Silver/Black Knights, these are all being brought in appropriately because they belong and have a connection with the world they're in.Β

Rexlare In reply to Acroar [2018-01-13 07:05:56 +0000 UTC]
Yeah.
Mainly for me, helmets and knight armor that actually has armored tassets that go past the knees.
I've always wanted a proper Kabuto helm, and an armor set that looks slender, black and has armor that fits against the legs like Ornstein's.
Salt and Sanctuary has far better fashion if you ask me. The 2D dark souls inspired Platformer...

Acroar In reply to Rexlare [2018-01-13 20:22:52 +0000 UTC]
I really liked Salt and Sanctuary, but I've never had the money to buy it on Steam. The only armor detail that gets on my nerves in Dark Souls is when leggings are super skinny like Artorias's leggings or when the helmets seem a bit smaller than they should like the Black Iron Helmet.
π: 0 β©: 1
Rexlare In reply to Acroar [2018-01-15 07:19:23 +0000 UTC]
Why do you think Artorias skipped leg day so much?
Why do you think I call the Silver and Black Knights a bunch of Pinheads?
I agree on that 100%, It's true that armored leggings do show the slimness of your legs perfectly, but my character has decently sized legs, but they turn to twigs with Artorias's leggings.
Salt and Sanctuary is a great game! ... not free of flaws an awful moments/mechanics, but a great game. It's only $20, get it when you can.

Just be ready for a few things.
1. Jumping is actually a thing in this game compared to Dark Souls, and is more viable for avoiding some attacks compared to the roll for days.
2. Be ready for a terrible level up system. It's one of those tree of skills that branches off, and in order to use some weapons, you have to unlock using their level rather than having a specific level of strength/dex stats.
3. That... f**king... witch...

Rexlare In reply to Acroar [2018-01-17 02:09:13 +0000 UTC]
Oh... trust me... it's pretty bad.
You know how in Dark Souls, you need 40 strength/dex to wield the best strength/dex weapons?Β
Well in Salt & Sanctuary, in order to wield the best sword, you need to first level up to use class 1 swords. Then move up the tree a few more skills and unlock class 2 swords. Continue climbing up to 3 and 4 and finally 5.
And that's just for swords. It's not including Polearms, Hammers, Axes, Whips, Crossbows, Bows, Wands, Staves and shields. Or spells and prayers.
The only good thing is that by unlocking those classes, you also add to your stats of Dexterity, Strength, Magic and Wisdom a point or two.

Is it practical to specialize yourself to one type of weapon like it is in Dark Souls?
π: 0 β©: 1
Rexlare In reply to Acroar [2018-01-17 04:46:45 +0000 UTC]
Honestly, I can't really say.
I've only been able to try so many builds because of multiple reasons.
1. NG+ Is very VERY hard. Not in the fair way where enemies are stronger than before, but hard in that even on level 120, early bosses will one shot you.
2. The leveling system is so poor in diversity that I've only been able to try so many weapons/combos.
3. I suppose you can specialize in one weapon type and mostly succeed, but where's the fun in that? I usually go a Dexterity wisdom/Magic build in any Souls like title, and while I'm on the way to do that, it certainly is a slog to get there.

Good. I know I painted an image of poor leveling up, a terrible boss and some other negatives, but I still think it's worth every cent. For an indie game, inspired by Dark Souls, it's still a fun experience... and who knows, I am only speaking off my experience with my first character, maybe my second playthrough will yield better results in NG+

Salt and Sanctuary feels more like Dark Souls than Dark Souls 3 did.

2. It's the cult of the Anorexic Reindeer.
