Okay, so, I am really bad at critiques so I will try my best. I barely know how to rate these but, sure >w<
I'm gonna start...
Vision: 4/5
You made the posing very well, Em look like she's having lots of fun! (Excluding the fact she slipped) Maybe you can add an background? I don't know. It'll make it seem like she's in the snow more >w<
Originality 3.5/5
I've seen an similar drawing to this before, but it looks really good in your style! :00
I would recommend adding more characters? Nyaa, I really don't know, I'm bad it critiques.
Technique 3.5/5
Oooo I really like how you did the shading and posing, and the scarf too >w<
The ice looks really cool, nice and has a gradient to it! It gives off a nice feeling
I also like how you colored the lineart, it makes it look different from your other drawings o3o I only gave it a 3.5/5 because I've seen this a lot, so don't worry ovo
Impact 4.5/5
It's really nice!! It's good from your ability right now, but I know you can make it look even better!! (I know you can!) Maybe adding a background would make it even better? I like your choice of colors on this, it's nice and soft.
Again, I'm bad at writing critiques, so I hope this is fair! uwu
Keep practicing and you will improve even more!!

I am not a great artist, honestly I'm pretty lackluster, but I can appreciate those who have managed to take what is a hobby, into a talent. I consider this a light showcase into what makes this particular artist, and their respective art style, so unique and smooth. A use of darker shades of the connecting color as the lining instead of black lining adds a feeling of vibrancy to the overall piece, adding to the corresponding of what color theory lays the groundwork, adding more warm colors, and cool colors, instead of just using the absence of it. A softer approach to the shading also compliments to the usage of color in this, and the use of "cel-shading" doesn't take away the importance of color such as soft shading, it gives a greater modifier to it and allows a greater emphasis on how well the colors can blend into the light's point of origin, however, it isn't without fault. The shading doesn't have the depth and polish as the lining, neither the color usage. It is much rougher, and has a feeling that it was rushed, instead of feeling like that time was taken carefully to make sure that every function of the artwork was thought out thoroughly to make sure that it could have been solid, I will give leniency of these faults as I know that the artist isn't a professional like those who sell their commissions at $30, but it isn't a excuse to forget about taking everything into account, as the artist in question has been drawing in a manner that shows effort for a great amount of time, especially their past pieces of artwork takes shading into a smoother range, and performs very well at making it just as smooth as the lining its self. Overall, this is a great piece of artwork that showcases almost every bit of talent that the artist has, and performs it very well, but it does have a minor amount of faults that very well, could have been easily fixed, seeing as their past pieces of artwork utilizes their core components well.

It's nice to pretend you're ice skating when you're actually just standing on a puddle.

I didn't talk about the color negatively, but you should work on the lining of the shaders. It is really bumpy, you can tell the lines point of origin to the end of it just by looking at the slight crevices, and it doesn't hold up to your standards.

EmilyTheMeowth In reply to snowyskunkyfox [2019-01-16 17:29:00 +0000 UTC]
Oooh, yes they are bumpier than before due to my style gearing more towards soft shading now. ;o; But I'll work on getting them smooth again dw. ^^
