This is my entry into the Kubo and the Two Strings art contest. I was terrified I wouldn't finish it on time since today is the final day for submissions. I've been run ragged working at Panera, so I had to do what I could on my days off. I was thrilled when I saw this contest since I love Kubo and I was planning to buy the DVD when it released anyway, so why not try and win a copy lol

For those of you who haven't seen the movie, this picture is pretty spoilerific, so my apologies in advance. I wanted to capture Kubo's ultimate struggle... life without his parents. I lost my mom to cancer in 2009, so when I first saw this movie it hit me really hard. Losing a loved one is definitely the hardest thing any of us will ever have to go through in this life. The ending of Kubo is very sad, he lost his mom and dad (who he had only gotten to know briefly) and he gained a grandfather who was the cause of his parent's deaths. If that's not a huge struggle, I don't know what is. Poor kid ;.; I used the broken monkey figurine and the bow to further punch you in the guts. I hope you enjoy this piece, I put a lot of work and effort into it.
