I LOVE THIS KIRIN AD SO MUCH SO I REALLY WANTED TO PAINT THE LOVELY WARM ATMOSPHERE BECAUSE I LOVE DOMESTIC ARASHI SO!! MUCH !! !! i've been thinking really hard about how to properly translate this title, but there's really nothing that exactly fits that sounds as nice ahaha.

this is a picture i've wanted to draw for a REALLY LONG TIME and it took a similarly REALLY LONG TIME for me to actually do so. i started this in december intending it to be my last picture of 2017 but instead it's become the first picture of 2018. OTL

i spent an unbearably long amount of time on the lineart due to the insane amount of detail involved and also the difficult perspective, but eventually i ended up with a lineart i was quite proud of. i did the painting over almost four straight day. i hadn't painted in a very, very long time and i think that lack of practice made it a bit difficult to start again. that being said, with the sheer amount of detail and objects in this picture, i was really challenged to draw and paint a lot of new things (LIKE A BIKE?? I'VE NEVER EVEN DRAWN A BIKE BEFORE!!? and also things like pots and couches and teatowels a whole head of lettuce??) so i'd like to think i was able to improve a bit.

i haven't really painted steel or metal reflective objects before so that was a new experience, but i think the bowls and pots turned out okay. also i'm quite proud of that jar of spaghetti haha

as for the final product, i'm somewhat satisfied, although i made some painting mistakes and colouring errors. overall, the finished product isn't exactly the image i had in mind, but that's just how it is. i'm more upset that after scanning, i couldn't edit the picture to reflect the colours more accurately. AND I'M ALSO A BIT DEVASTATED THAT AFTER CALIBRATING MY LAPTOP I REALIZED THE COLOURS FOR ALL MY PICTURES ARE DIFFERENT FROM WHAT I SAW ON MY SCREEN AND WHAT I MEANT THEM TO BE and it means that i've been uploading and sharing these ridiculously oversaturated pictures for all these years AND I'M SO SAD anyway i'm going to cut my losses and start thinking about my next picture, and i'll work harder on my scanning/editing so that you can all see my pictures the way they're supposed to be seen ;;;;

i'll keep trying my best in 2018. i really want to draw heaps and improve a lot this year and i have so many ideas and things i want to draw! most of them arashi of course what else is new HAHA please keep looking at my art this year too! :'))
