this year i tried to do inktober for the first time... but i didn't actually finish until the 1st december.... OTL

the dates on each of the pictures refer to the corresponding day of october each picture was supposed to be for hahaha. i think i was up to date for only the first 4 days, then i fell one day behind, then 3 days behind, THEN A WEEK BEHIND, and then i was basically a lost cause HAHA. i only managed to do 17 pictures in october, but since i'd already gotten over halfway, i was determined to finish all 31 pictures even though it took me all of november to do so.

i honestly did my very best for every single one of these drawings. i know i could've hastily scribbled something in ink everyday and easily completed it in time, but i was adamant to complete every piece properly to the best of my ability. i wanted every drawing to be a proper and complete piece in itself. the composition, my original vision/image/feel for each illustration, each piece's individual drawing and inking style was very important to me.

ink is also a medium i'm not very comfortable with and i don't use much, but i was determined to challenge myself by using only ink. ;; i could also finally put my usually neglected collection of ink pens and copics to use haha.

i have never drawn so much in such a short period of time before. OTL I HAVE PRODUCED MORE IN THESE TWO MONTHS THAN WHAT I WOULD USUALLY PRODUCE IN TWO YEARS HAHAHA

i churned out like 3-4 pieces a week when usually i barely do one drawing every 2 months!! hahaha i'm still shocked.
i was often working on about 2 pieces at once. since i often had to wait for ink to dry, i'd have one inked and drying while i sketched out the next one. usually i'd erase the pencil lineart after the ink was dry and then add another ink layer (colours/patterns/shades/extra details), so i'd usually have two working drawings in two different sketchbooks at once. so give an take a couple of days over the last two months where i'd have activities or other commitments, i was basically drawing everyday. ;;w;;;;

IT TURNS OUT IF YOU FORCE YOURSELF TO DRAW EVERY DAY, YOU ACTUALLY IMPROVE!!?!?!? ?!

BUT I'M NEVER GOING TO DO INKTOBER EVER AGAIN !! !!

but i honestly think i was working and drawing a lot faster than usual and i really feel like i got better? like at times it really felt like each new piece was better than the last and that was a good feeling ;; i think over this inktober challenge, i really improved and picked up some inking skills. BUT I MISSED MY SOFT PENCIL LINEART AND MY WATERCOLOURS SO MUCH YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW BADLY I JUST WANTED TO GRAB A PAINTBRUSH!!! !!

anyway, i'm just really relieved that this is over because i can't wait to get back to my watercolours and i have SO MANY OTHER THINGS AND PROJECTS I WANT TO DRAW! !! i'm just hoping that any little improvement i picked up these two months can transfer onto my next works too ;;

out of all of these illustrations, my favourite one is the xxxholic one. i really put my heart into it and i love how it turned out. :')
