Stunning work! Love the monochromatic color palette, really works well with the panda!Β

Hi! This guy looks really huggable. And quite friendly, more of a pet than a wild animal, it is cute! I'd love to give it a big hug.
I have a few observations though. I'm not sure if you tried to go for a realistic look. But the eye patches and it's ears are a bit off.
If you use a picture for reference it may be easier to work on these details ( tinyurl.com/m5lcxmq ).
The ears are a bit smaller and less triangle-looking. And their eye patches tend to be enlogated and going down towards the cheeks. like runny makeup hehe, I'm very sorry, my english is not very good and I need more vocabulary. Β I think working on these two bits of it's head it could make it look better, a more natural panda look. Even if you stylize it a bit...or a lot; like this panda from Ranma 1/2 ( tinyurl.com/lgeuz72 ).
Note how huge the eye patches are and yet they are slightly "bent down", and the ears are small.
Also, I brighter background might Β help to make it pop a bit more. You could make the top part brighter, since the white parts of the panda are shaded, the subject wouldn't get lost in a brighter background.
Hope you find this helpful. Β I'm not rating with the lil' stars, I don't think I could evaluate some art piece this way. I don't have the knowledge to do so.

This is really cute. You know what it reminded me of? You may or may not get the reference, but in the anime Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood there is a panda who everyone thinks is a cat - this reminded me of her because it does look a little cat-like.Β
I'm sure the person you painted it for will be really pleased with it

Cute subject! The brushwork feels a little muddy, though; I'm not sure what the problem is exactly. Also, you might want to spend more time observing how similar textures and forms are shaded, it seems kind of flat.

muddy? Can you be a little more specific?

I'm sorry, I'm not quite sure how to explain it... It's like the strokes that are meant to be fur are smearing into one another.Β
It might be partly because it was saved as a jpeg, and at a small size. Jpegs tend to mess with image quality like that.

I think I know what you mean, I like to blend my colours a lot so that might be it. In any case I agree that the fur needs some work. For one thing the fur type I've drawn is a little off for a panda
Β Thanks for the critique I've noted you a larger version of the file for you to look at.Β
