Looks quite charming, yes!

And those small point-and-shoot cams can be very decent tools, despite their obvious limitations. One of the most notable plus being that it is often not practical (or the photog just lazy, lol) to carry the whole load of dslr and stuff, but sneaky little p's can be stuffed in a pocket.

And some of them little cams do also support raw formats, which helps the color balance issue!

And no, this one does not support raw formats My DSLR supports raw, and yes sometimes it does indeed fix the color balance - but actually, most of the time i'm too lazy to shoot in raw, because it's hard to find a good non-commercial software that can handle raw.

Yes, that's true about the software, but good tools are really important here. And too bad that manufacturers don't include raw into more affordable model features, but mostly in high end poinandshoots, which start to approach DSLR price already. But IMO raw process is a must have for any shots made in difficult light, where cameras algorithms often get confused. Auto mode jpgs are nice, but only in simple light, for casual shots.

Luckily there are some workarounds, at least for most recent small Canon cams, there is an community made addon available called CHDK, which allows many useful extra features and also raw, which is yummy.
