I'm actually pretty darn proud with this one! = )


At first I thought it was going to turn out to be a disaster - there was one point where I just couldn't make the connection with Blaze the Cat (cuz I couldn't draw her the way I wanted - you'll see when I wrote: "How do I draw Blaze bending over??" ~ bending her knees that is! I know some of you are dirty minded - I didn't mean it in a sexual sense... XXD).


So yeah all in all I went with it and continued on with a good steady pace. Half way through I was thinking: "Let's throw in Silver for good measure", so I did. ^^

I was actually about to have him hand over RINGS over the counter to buy Blaze the cake she wanted on display! XXD Rings in their world is the currency after all, right?


Anyways this was made especially for (check her out on deviantART! She's got some awesome stuff going on with her artwork!), she was the inspiration behind this along with the photos that I took while I was in Canada (visiting the good old Granville Island Markets in Vancouver).


At the end of the day I'm happy with how this turned out! The only thing I'm not too pleased was the composition - there's just too much happening on the middle-ground (i.e. Blaze and Silver), perhaps I could position them better in future?)

The COLOUR WHEEL really helped get the right colours I wanted for this drawing - VIOLET RED and YELLOW GREEN were the contrasting colours used. You can get a colour wheel at your local craft store.


Hope you'll learn something here! I've managed to utilise the MARKER and BLUR tools to good use, hope you'll do so too on your next 'One Hour Sonic' challenge! *thumbs up*

Saw the video (and now the late reply to it), it's fun to see where you get your inspiration for drawings from. Even the simple things can make a great inspiration for a great picture (why do I tend to forget that so often...? X3)
Honestly, you are really quick! I loose a lot of time on sketching. XD Got to learn how to make them simple and use that.
Anyway, it was really fun to watch! Now I see how you color the drawings so quickly. XD

Well the only way to improve is learn and practice more right?

I need to work on the colouring and shading more - that is my current weakness. X3 I'm better at sketching at the moment. ^_^

Well aint that adorable :3 You added a little extra too! ^^ How sweet. As soon as I saw cake and Blaze, I knew immediately this was a tribute to =BlazeCake :3 And yes, she does have amazing art. I've been following her for a long while (By they way she really likes deep cakes, like triple chocolate )

I like how you broke down the picture like that, you should feel proud! This is a spectacle, probably one of the best pictures you've done too ^^ And you've done it in one hour too! That's incredible how much creativity you brought to the table here. I certainly am amassed by the contrast and arrange of colours, the baby blue from the glass, versus the yellow green and violet red really feels calm together all in all, the brightness adds a lot to the clarity and the cuteness, it's incredible It's by far the vutest and best I've seen from you! Way to go Elson!

I have to say, this is the most beautiful pic of Silver and Blaze I have ever seen! The expressions of Silver and Blaze are adorable! X3 I love the way you blended the colors together! Not to bright and not too dark. Your unique, painting style reminds me of how the animators create the animation for Sailor Moon; whenever the characters are having flashback of their sweet, "aw" moments. X-)

And about the color wheel; I will definitely buy a color wheel the next time I visit Michael's Art (why I didn't think of that?! XD) Before coloring my pic with photoshop, the color wheel will quickly help me find the right colors!

Why thank you for the feedback there! I'm glad someone is cool about the composition! I still think that it could have been done better. Nevertheless yes that 'soft and bubbly' style that is evident in the Sailor Moon series - I can see where you're coming from with that! XD

Aw man.. First of all.. Thank you! It means a lot to get something like this from you Especially from my idol I've followed for years. I'm glad to see you draw Blaze again ! And to see the video, there were some pretty interesting ideas in there that inspire me to try drawing some of those ideas in the future. Who knew Blaze with a cake would seem so cute, I seem like a genius to myself XDD

I've also been at the Granville Island Market once by the way Since I go to Vancouver every so often and my family just seems to love it there

It's actually interesting to see what we can do in just an hour, I see you're doing the "layer after layer after layer" thing I do Since I see a whole load of layers there!

Great job though Elson! Loved how you used the color wheel here. I gotta find one of those, I've lost so many of them X'D Wish I could say more, but I really should be studying. Lol! Yeah I know! The time zones can be quite a challenge but you know it's just how it goes in life - you just adapt the best way possible.

Oh wow you've been to Granville Island Market too? It's a lovely place ain't it? I walked from city central, across the bridge and down to the markets - in a typical rainy day (hence the photos of me carrying an umbrella! XXD).

And thanks for being an inspiration to many BlazeCake! It's awesome how you can share so much more than just your artistic talent alone!

Yup! Just gotta live with it I still find it interesting how I'm way behind from the both of you and you guys are already started the next day. A little odd thing I always thought about timezones. Yup I've been there! I saw the pictures, it did look like a rainy day there. Vancouver seems to have a lot of rainy days, because last time I went there it rained so much. You sure seem to love to travel Maybe next time you pay a visit to Canada, we could possibly meet up.
