The scale and grandeur remind me of the great sci-fi book covers of the 70s. Most of those were marred by the addition of pointless semi-nudity (women only). This looks like the vision *before* marketing managers got to the artists. Nicely done.

How long did that take to render?

Well, the longer parts were for Mandelbulb 3D. I did 3 differents renders with about 10mn rendering for each of them.
But in fact, the longest part was about postworking all the shapes in Photoshop !
If I remember well, I did the complete artwork (3dsmax + Mandelbulb 3d + MakeHuman + Photoshop) between 12 and 15 hours ...
