Description Well, this painting is over a year old. I took this traditional painting class last year in hopes to...well..be a better painter. I got what I wanted, but at a horrible price. My professor would tell us we could paint whatever we want, no limits! Sounds great until he says you can't do whatever you want, and that we HAVE to do still life paintings the whole quarter. He said we could choose what was in it, but then told us we can't chose what's in it.

Thus, a mannequin, because we BEGGED for a live model. Earlier that quarter we were painting untextured boxes and a plush peep easter basket, no lie. My friend wanted a horse, tho.

My professor didn't like this piece at all.

I used acrylics.

That sounds incredibly annoying. At least it yielded a neat picture, though. I like the color and texture of the headdress, as well as the random horse. That combination makes me think of adventure movies set in Arabia. I think something more could have been done with the space around the horse, as it looks kind of empty, but that's more a flaw with the still life arrangement than with the art itself.

Also, I totally thought that horse was a unicorn when I first looked at it.

yeah that was a still life that the students got to set up. I forget what I brought in, but I wanted to focus on the face, so I ended up cropping out a lot of the still life for it. And I got a really crappy seat since all the good angles were taken.
