Night on J'nanin--beautiful work. You really captured what a sympathetic villain Saavedro is here. One of my favorite characters on one of my favorite Ages. Love this!

Aaaah, Saavedro. He looks so charming and sad in your portrayal that I can almost forget the hammer incident.
No, really. One of the wonderful things I recall about the Myst series was how few of the villains WANTED to be villains. Stands as a warning to the rest of us.

yes, the way the villains become the villains in Myst is usually due to some little thing that snowballs into revenge or hatred when they really started out as good people. I always felt that Saavedro's story was the saddest because the circumstance was so cruel and immediate, and his transformation to a villain was out of isolation that he couldn't control.
I think because of that the story became very interesting and the game became my favorite, although its puzzles aren't the hardest.

Iirc, you showed us on MC, when you were still working on it. Well, now that it's complete - it is totally amazing. You made him quite young, so i suppose this is from the first year of his exile or so?

Not the first year, but just a year or two longer than that. Enough time has passed where his hair has grown longer, and his isolation is getting to him. I kind of imagined this scene as the realization that he will never see Narayan again, and it is also the location that I imagined where something happened in Locusani that was monumental in his isolation on J'nanin.
