Description A character painting (mostly lighting study) I did two terms ago.
Instructor was like, "If he's a king, his posture should be better."
Not if he's a ruthless, paranoid, scheming tyrant. Like he is.

Those shiny plates on his crown, when colored, are actually patches of red stained glass.

I think I got carried away making him look evil and aged him a bit too much, though. ORZ

!
Btw. I read the Dany vision part in the book with the "blue flower/wall of ice" line. I know you think Jon/Dany is wrong but...idk. I predict it. And I can't really say I would mind. FFFFF I blame Kit and Emilia for looking cute.

Eeeeevil.

If he keeps his posture like that, he's gonna have back problems. Maybe that's why he's in a foul mood. XD

WHY WHATTA COINCIDENCE. I am watching it now. So good, even though it's pixelated and from some shady site.

Though...having Mom watch the first episode with me....not the best idea I've ever had. T_T

I love Daenerys. There is simply too much sex in that show for parents. I've been secretly watching it at night uwahaha.

I know what you mean I watch with a friend of mine who goes to the same church as I do. We both skipped through the sex scenes when we watched it on HBO, but I've been watching it off of torrents

Thanks! His family name is Fontis, but I don't really have the rest of it. I like the names "Jokull" and "Magnar," though if you know of any, by all means! It would be cool for him to have a multilayered name!

vassal-of-bahamut In reply to elontirien [2011-06-27 08:28:55 +0000 UTC]

hmmm....Alderic? I just mashed together Alaric (the Visigoth who sacked Rome in 430) and Childeric (the Vandal King who fought against the Byzantines around 670). You could do Odovacer or Odoacer (watcher of wealth), perhaps pointing to his paranoia? If you want something original, there's Vacarulf, which is a mix between vacar- (watcher) and -ulf (wolf) so he's like a "watcher-wolf." maybe that could work, since he's been expanding his power and getting his son to execute lords he doesn't like

You could go for ancient Gallic names, like Dumnorix, or Ariovistus, but maybe those are a bit obvious for the history buffs

for his family name, you could have a tag, like the German von or the Celtic Mc or Mac

Vacarulf/Alderic ver Fontis, or verFontis?

Hope this helps!

Wow, these are great! I love the hybrid names; it's always been tough to make a culture and its people original, yet still very relatable. Vacarulf is my favorite I think. Suits him so well ahhh.

And I've never seen a problem with historical names! Naya's family name is Amarna, which was the reigning art style during the rule of Akhenaton in Egypt. It's curved, soft, pretty, and much more lifelike than Egyptian art canon was before and after it. I see history names as discreet little nods to people who know their stuff.

Alderic the Old Wolf, First of his Name, son of Haakar Mancleaver, of the House Fontis, King of -insert kingdom name here-, High Jarl of Donaarheim, Lord Paramount of Aegeopolis, Chieftain of the Freylings, Master of the Haven and the Icefleets.

...or something to that effect
