AwakeningA traveler silently makes his way through the vale of shadows. Seeking passage into the Elysian fields, the living must pass a test of character. He knows not what trial awaits him.
Neither day nor night, the sky is awash with constellations of countless suns glimmering against a twilight blue ether. Seven celestial worlds rise beyond the horizon, the first of them casting a warm pink-orange light in the backdrop.
Illuminary souls of the timeless beings call out to he who is chosen. The brightest star intuitively makes itself known to him. Star Keeper, enfolder of the celestial orbs; keeper of divine secrets. At this moment, two wings appear to sprout from his shoulder blades. The form of a bird emerges and takes flight. An eagle rises above him.
The anima/spirit casts a stoic glance down at the valley and sees the material form reflected back, in the form of the man wading through the milky fog. He begins to lose all sense of self as the eagle continues to soar higher, reaching for th

Throwing my hat into the ring:
GIOW - 003 - From Another WorldHis people go by many names.
Watchers. Witnesses. Travelers. Aliens. Demons. Angels. Star People. Those Who Play.
His people are ancient.
His kind have watched worlds—no, entire universes—form, expand, consume, cool, collapse and reform anew. They have danced among the stars, breathed the vapors of interstellar space, and shaped the fates of galactic hyperclusters. Their merest thoughts birth and guide whole realities from beginning to end.
He can do anything. He has no business here.
… and yet, here he is.
For all the godlike power a single individual of his kind possesses, for all his ability to form stars with his mind and place them in the dark material of universal space, for how technically immortal his kin are … something deep within him yearns for something like the ancient mundanities his most distant ancestors, a thousand universal cycles removed, once enjoyed.

Jonah breathed out a deep sigh before entering his daughter’s room. Times had been strange since he’d met Michael who was the first authentic psychic he’d met and full evidence of a supernatural world. He hadn’t heard from Michael and didn’t know how to contact him, but Jonah could use his help now to know what Leah was doing at night. Her sleep walking trips were worrying him.
He entered his daughter’s bedroom and sat on the edge of Leah’s bed.
“Don’t worry, Daddy,” Leah said trying to coax a smile out of Jonah. “Everything will be fine tonight. You’ll see.”
