Description "The Raven" 2007
Pencil on paper, 10x15cm each
Download with a tea break is recommended to see more detail.

"The clock struck midnight
and through my sleeping
I heard a tapping at my door
I looked but nothing lay in the darkness
And so I turned inside once more
To my amazement
There stood a raven
Whose shadow hung above my door
Then through the silence
It spoke the one word
That I shall hear for evermore
Nevermore
Thus quoth the raven, nevermore
And still the raven remains in my room
No matter how much I implore
No words can soothe him
No prayer remove him
And I must hear for evermore"
Gregorian "The Raven", inspired by Edgar Alan Poe.

Hi!

Sorry for this cut and paste comment! I featured this awesome deviation of yours in my news article β€œA Tribute to Edgar Allan Poe”. I hope you don’t mind the feature. If you prefer not to be featured in this article, tell me please and I will do my best to get your deviation removed from it. You can find the news article here: [link] I love the surrealistic way of this drawing: the human legs of the raven and the inversion of the ratio. And also how mean the raven looks down to the man.

Wow...
It's amazing how could u draw so many details!
The expression of the girl and the eye of the crow... REALLY NICE!

The split format adds "something"... you can focus in each part of the crow...

Amazing work! really neat pencil work ^_^ Are the arms replacing the claws/legs something you interpreted yourself or did that get a mention in Poe's work? *hasn't read it*

The hands are showing the creatures strongness and mind scaring the person. I've learned how hands speaks their owners' mind from old religious masterpieces so just I applied it to my works

Wow, looks great as always! I like the format you chose for this one, is very original! Definitely my favourite part are the hands, they add a whole new dimension along with the expression and the concept of it, like if it were menacing that little person in someway

An interesting piece of work, and an interesting interpretation of Poe's 'The Raven'. I would like to ask though, is that 4 seperated pieces of work, or one piece that was segmented?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

elliegreco In reply to Femaleclaws [2007-04-01 18:14:59 +0000 UTC]

It is separated and there are two reasons for it
1. My father ordered this drawing with IKEA's nice simple frame with a mat for four pastcards.
2. I didn't have such a looooooong paper which suit for the frame!
Hope those answeres help you
