Description
What can I say about this piece? A lot more than I can probably write down. It's been over two years since I began this picture in my 3D animations class. It has only taken so long to do this because I didn't have a tablet at the time and I could only continue it at class on my free time. Once the semester was over I was without a tablet till last year when I started college. Since then when I could get the time I've continued the picture, making slow but steady progress. I've had to recolor a good handful of the characters two or three times because for some reason the previous colors were a shade different from the official art.

The picture only started with my characters Indigo the hedgehog, Vira the wolf, and Daisy the canary. However, I began to love drawing on the tablet the more I did it, and more characters came into the picture. I then had an idea of rotating the picture around and doing more Sonic characters and my own that would relate to my big story idea that is in the works. Before I knew it, I was adding more and more characters to make the picture more even on both sides. Now it has become a basic showcasing of Sonic's games up to now and the possible future I like to envision anyways. Not every game is there represented by a character, but the ones I did choose I made sure were different and would be awesome to see more of.

The characters that belong to me include:
Indigo the hedgehog (center)
Vira the wolf (left of Indigo)
Daisy the canary (right of Indigo)
Riley the hare (directly above Indigo)
Zack the rat (directly to the right of Daisy)
Brick the badger (directly above Zack)
Greg the groundhog (directly below Zack)
Tessa the skunk (directly to the right of Riley)
Kahn the vulture (directly to the right of Tessa)
Hunter the jackal (directly to the right of Kahn)
E-114 Omicron (behind Emerl and Zero)
Oasis the seal (behind Big and Froggy)
Raul the dog/mutt (directly to the left of Oasis)
Mysterious snake guy with a name that has yet to be revealed (the big head behind the characters in the top part of the picture and whose hands are surrounding most of the cast)

Also the characters in the top right hand corner are all mine. They include:

E-Kokkinos/ Red
E-Galanos/ Blue
E-Kitrinos/ Yellow
E-Mob/ Purple
E-Prasinos/ Green ver. 1 and 2
Souless Chaos (hence why it doesn't have a brain)
Shadow Android (yes he is different from the other ones but is not called anything special, just that he's the latest one)

Wow, now that I look at my lists, I have made a lot of characters. They all have something to contribute in my story and they all are or going to be well developed. No frustratingly perfect characters here, they all have flaws, especially the one most concerned with Indigo. She is one of the leading protagonists in the story, but the story is divided into four parts. There's Indigo's, Sonic's, and Shadow's which all happen in the same time span. Then the fourth part happens after all of that. Characters will be introduce in different parts, and all coincide into one timeline. Mind you not all the characters shown here are in the story, mostly for picture purposes but I plan on using some of them in future stories. There will be returning appearances of some older characters, and all I can say for now is that I'm not one to have all this progress go to waste.

The robots in my E-Color line are subject to change, but their looks are basically the embodiment of how I want them to look like and represent. Plus I did so much work just figuring them out and coloring them I didn't want to put the picture on hold just to come up with radically different designs. So whether or not they change much, I am still glad to have finally gotten them done, I was procrastinating on them since I thought of putting them in.

Some things that I tried to do didn't work out as I liked. For the most obvious some of the character's bottom halves were supposed to blur out into space as if to show the characters and the ones behind them were some sort of mirage or projection of themselves. I did my best to blur the bottom of them, but from far away they still look too flat and might confuse people. The problem was I didn't want to stretch the bottom colors or it would have looked more odd than it does now. If there is a way to do that without distorting the characters, than I would like to know. Also, two of the chaos emerald beams go behind some characters that are behind the emerald. If I changed the layers to correct this, it would not get the same effect and the characters' colors would be covered.

I used a bit of references from official art to do a lot of the sonic team's characters. References that didn't include that were art for Zero, Beta, and the chaos emerald designs. For Zero it's hard to find a good picture of and I used Zero picture. He pretty much has the same pose from it too, it would be too hard to do something else and that's what I imagined his pose to be like anyways. Its' thanks to him I could do a Zero as good as I did. Beta's was a combination of picture on Google but it was mostly on my part since I wanted I side view from him. For the chaos emeralds I originally had simple designs and my brother suggested designs. Basically those that I have taken inspiration from I thank you all and I did draw all these from scratch so there was no worries.

There were so many obstacles I went through into making this, and I learned a great deal from the whole process. It's enough to say I am darn proud of this piece, even if it's not perfect. As long as I'm happy about it and can always look back on it with a smile, that's good enough for me. I would like some (helpful) critique and thought on the my characters, like if they visually fit in the sonic crew or not. Remember no spamming or randomly say 'she sucks!' and that's it without giving me reasons to why you think that.

Edit: I now added the Deadly Six characters and I decided to add my designs of Wendy Witchcart and her crew as well. Only the designs of them are mine but not the characters themselves. As for how many characters there are in all, now there is a total of...104 characters...whoa. I'm a bit blown away myself.
