I was sketching up a concept for my next project today and I had the urge to draw these two ever since. Actually, I've been wanting to draw a picture like this for years (I try, they just always suck).

So yea, this is Cain and Selene. Cain is cool and all, but Selene is more of a main character than he is. She's pretty complex in her own right and is very good at what she does. Her interactions with Elizabeth are especially nice, as she opens Elizabeth's eyes to some things and has her considering things that she hadn't before. And similarly, Elizabeth effects Selene too.

Cain has some pretty nice roles in the series too, but he's more of the "hands-on" type. So he causes some shit and just generally kills a ton of people. He's also freaking huge man. He was initially created because I wanted a massive character in my books and so here he is. He's like, over 7 feet tall.

Selene meets him when he's a little boy though, when she's not really at her best. And Cain tries to cheer her up without knowing who she is. He then spends the next few years visiting her at the spot he met her (even though she's not there most of the time). Before leaving on a decade long training/journey, he confesses his love to her and then leaves without letting Selene reply at all...it would have been negative anyways. He's 14 then. So it's kinda...yea....Selene is a lot older than him. They are both eternally youthful though, it's just that she's like a century and a half older than him.

Anyways, he comes back as a massive giant of a man 10 years later and claims the top position in Akiore's army. At the same time he learns who Selene really is (a Master working alongside Akiore with other chosen characters). Their relationship gets pretty dark,l complex and dangerous here though.

So yes, they're villains/the "bad guys". Yes, Cain has bit Selene's neck/drank her blood. No, that's not why she looks sad. Selene allows him to do this. No, he isn't a vampire. He just eats people. You'll see his teeth in that Project FALL piece I'm working on.

And now I will formally introduce him as a Child of Darkness.

My last work involving them is really old too:
