I took it on the way to grand Isle in southeast Louisiana. I don't know if you can tell, but I'm moving. 's driving. Yea, this actually isn't a lake... and it SHOULD be solid land, but thanks to the levees stopping new soil being deposited, canals dug by the oil industry, and just plain old erosion, it now looks like this. Beautiful, yet utterly depressing.

In truth, it isn't a depressing pic, it's just the knowledge that there is open water right there that is depressing. We really do have a severe problem down here. These wetlands protect us from storm serges. That means that the smaller the wetlands (the more open water like this), the worse our hurricanes hit us...
