Poor Toriel, she is probably terrified that Chara might fell ill one day all of a sudden, from what they know it was just an unpredictable fatality, since Chara hasn't said the truth, just like Azzy didn't.
I have this weird headcanon that Chara is Frisk's ancestor and there are valid proofs XD Frisk has probably asian mum or dad (if we can call them "parents") tough it's not comfirmed of course. Also to me Chara starts being nothing but a weird ghost/imaginary friend to Frisk. But then becomes best friend or partner depending on the route you make. Also I think that they where friends because of their affinities, I think Frisk had bad feelings about humans too (as Asriel says in pacifist ending), and so they can understand each others in many situations, and in pacifist they both become better humans that have much less hate in their hearts.
