Description
Golden light spills across the villa's front garden on a warm spring evening. Two artists stand beside the gate. One is a butler, steeped in the mannered ways of a vanishing age. The other is a weathered little man covered with soot who loves to make the sky sparkle.
Their eyes meet, full of the sort of tenderness that only comes with long experience of the world. A misty reminiscence comes to mind, and one feels his face flush with the memory. He eyes the other with wonder, with curiosity, with trepdidation. Can new love burn in an old heart?
The answer comes in the soft brush of dry lips against a wrinkled, balding brow. His calloused palms, so used to handling the crates of explosives that fill his home, meet a new softness as the taller man gently links their hands together. With the last of the day's sun beating down on him, he closes his eyes and lets this feeling of peace wash over him. It may pass as soon as the cherry blossoms fall from the trees, but for now, it is enough.
This work of art you see before you was originally intended for the Non-Marriageable Characters contest at TheHarvestMoon . I wasn't able to finish in time, but the passion to bring this pairing to you burned in me still, and now I am THRILLED to share my vision with you all!!!! My sister norree and I have recently started shipping Sebastian and Patrick from Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life. (This picture was completed during an EPIC day-long draw and brainstorm and Sim session with her!! And thanks to her for some help with ideas for colouring too!)
Think about it: Kassey, Patrick's twin, is always going on about impressing the women of Forget-Me-Not Valley, but Patrick never joins in this banter. He is too consumed, perhaps, by his art - and yet, he is not the only artist of a certain age within the valley. Shy Sebastian rarely leaves the manor, but its mistress Romana hosts people from all different walks of life within its walls, giving him ample opportunity to run into the passionate pyrotechnic.
Patrick may be grumpy, but he spots one of Sebastian's paintings and strikes up a conversation about art with the good-natured butler. Before long, a friendship has developed between them, bringing each other supplies and even challenging each other to move outside his comfort zone with his own art. There might be spirited debates, too, about the very nature of art: Sebastian strives to preserve perfection in a painting, while Patrick embraces the ephemeral and the spectacular with his fireworks displays. Could it be that one day, this friendship grows into something deeper, something beyond the meeting of the minds -- perhaps instead, the meeting of souls and bodies?
Happy Pride Month, people.

I never thought of this ship, but I'm loving it!! I also LOVE the little story, so many great quotable bits in there! The colors are so rich and vibrant, I love the deep green of the grasses in front of the trees!
