"The Noctowls from Zumbra are very different from their Johto counterparts. A long time ago during the colonial period of Zumbra, Noctowl came with the arrival of navigators from another region. They brought them to watch over their slaves from indigenous tribes, taking advantage of their vision abilities.

Once, one girl escaped from the dirty work and she ranaway to Spiral Forest where she met one Mocambo. Where the girl was she could see one Noctowl different from the others; it was big, purple and with colorful feathers. The Leader of the village said they found one weak Noctowl on the forest, probably rejected by the navigators so they took care of the Noctowl, where he grew big, strong and very attached to people. The Noctowl after the diet of eating berries and fruits changed his look—and the bond between the Shaman and the Noctowl probably took influence too.

In the year 169X this type of Noctowl was already very common on Zumbra, with a powerful but careful personality. This Pokémon can create illusions and can see the future—this being it's most instable ability. The Zumbran Noctowl is also know was Aypytuna in the region due to the re-nomination of the indigenous, with "Pytuna" meaning night and "Ayty" meaning nest."
