Description Here's short instructions on how I figured out to do this today. I knew how to get the textures but had no idea how to get the mesh, so yh.

-------------------------------------SIMS 2
I just got "SimPE" the sims2 package editor.
sims.ambertation.de/en/downloa…

Then I opened the ".package" file downloaded from a sims2 site.

------Getting the 3D body---------
To extract the 3d body you need to use a sim2 package with a mesh file in it.

Click on the list of files that says GMDC, and on the lower left check all the parts in that box that says "Generic Rcol Editor"

Click on preview to see a small image of what it looks like.

Then click "Export" and use DirectX Exporter. Then import the x file into PMDeditor. I think you need to scale it "x10" to see it, not sure though. But yeah. Then you just need to assign the materials.

------------Getting textures--------------
Open the package containing the textures you want.

Scroll down on the left and select "Texture Image"

Export all the images shown and rename them accordingly as

alpha 5.png,
alpha 3.png,
Matbase.png

Then in PMDE open that 3D model you imported and assign these mats accordingly.

---------------------------------

--------------------------------- Sims 3

To convert Sims 3 you need to use Sims3pe or Postal sourceforge.net/projects/posta… and extract the geom file. Open it in blender importing it using the modthesims Sims 3 blender plugin. Convert the geom to an .x file. Open it in PMDEditor. Export the mats, and then assign the mats that you exported in PMDeditor.

It's much more of a process and the goods don't come out the same way as Sims3 uses the special in game material CAS.

Alternatively you can download the sims3 meshes as obj files from www.lianasims3.net/meshes.php

Then import the obj into metaseq. Export it to .x file. Import that file into pmde, assign the mat that is provided as a "_coordanates.bmp" and voila. Once you've converted the mesh into pmde, you can use the method of extracting textures from postal or sims3pe and they will fit the mesh you got from lianasims3.

bleh, long and complicated. I'm afraid this is about as much as I can explain. Good Luck, and lemme see what you make when you are done. But ask for permission to convert goods from various artists because they typically make the 3d mesh and textures themselves like most of us do, and then do the reverse process to get them in the game.

Have a lovely day.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bleh this is just a rough guide on how I did it, hopefully it makes sense.

I will probably not answer questions, you'll have to figure it all out by yourself .

Hi I'm new to MMD. I'm mostly a Sims 2 machinima creator. Thanks for the instructions. I'm going to give this a try. I want to be able to convert my sims characters into MMD to make more videos.Β

about the sims 2 you can't open .x files in PMDe only in PMXe. also you can't convert clothing or hair from sims 2 only custom content items seem to be able to be converted.

How Can I put the textures in pmde?

When I opened the package file with Postal, I couldn't find the geom files. Just prop, unk and png files.

I'm trying to get the Grim Reaper. I had previously converted the package file from a sims3pack file, in case that may be the source of the problem.

Rnadom person passing by to answer

Yes, it is possible, but apparently quite difficult. Someone somewhere here on deviantart managed to put animasa miku's hair in, and mentioned so in her journal, but never really explained how.

And, when you rip the bits of the model out, i don't think it will be rigged. You're only ripping out the 3D data, so the rigging will have to be done in the pmd editor.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

paloiu222 In reply to ZigTheRapist [2013-04-07 12:06:01 +0000 UTC]

You mean, where can you find the rendered model?

ZigTheRapist In reply to paloiu222 [2013-04-07 17:43:00 +0000 UTC]

no i mean i did a model in sims sooo where can i find him / her to convert to mmd ? i gotta first render the parts later render the model without the clothes or he / she will come with clothes already ?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

paloiu222 In reply to ZigTheRapist [2013-04-09 00:35:53 +0000 UTC]

Oh. okay.
The thing is, when you look through the Sims 3 files, you won't find full body models. (Grim Reaper is an exception) You'll find pieces, like hair, face, shirt, pants, accessories. etc.

You'll have to rip out the parts you used individually and put them together in an external program like Blender or Milkshape.
It's troublesome, and probably why not many people convert Sims 3 models into MMD.

ZigTheRapist In reply to paloiu222 [2013-04-09 00:40:51 +0000 UTC]

ah i see this happens the same way with sims 2 right ?
and where all the clothes and faces are stored ?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

paloiu222 In reply to ZigTheRapist [2013-04-15 12:39:31 +0000 UTC]

I believe so. I never worked with Sims 2 this way before.

For Sims 3, I searched in
C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\GameData\Shared\Packages

I looked through every package file. It's tiring.
I'm not even sure if all the files are there. Logically, they should be, but I didn't find all I expected to. Maybe I didn't look well enough.

hi umm dont mean to bother but uhm my meta trial expired and i cant export heh is there another way to export .obj to .x that is 100% free?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

ela-stellar In reply to pixelated-memories [2013-02-24 18:25:54 +0000 UTC]

You can use Metaseq version 2.0 the freeware to save as x files, it doesn't have all the special editing features but you can use it to export as .x.

You can use blender with plugins, but that is much more complicated, I can barely do it myself. Good luck.

Hi, I know you'll probably not answers but these questions are easy to answer
Do you actually need to download sims 2 et sims 3 to extract clothes ?
Or just some resources files ?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

ela-stellar In reply to xLineChu [2013-02-24 18:26:51 +0000 UTC]

You do not need to have the Sims installed, it works without it just the .package files are needed.
Good luck.
